NYPD cop, wife charged in murder-for-hire plot

A Bronx police officer at the center of the NYPD ticket-fixing scandal has been charged, along with his wife, with conspiring to hire a hit man to murder a key witness against him.

Prosecutors say veteran police officer Jose Ramos and his wife, Wanda Abreu, intended for the witness to be killed during a planned trip to Texas so they'd have an alibi.

"He sold his badge," said Bronx Assistant District Attorney Omer Wiczyk. "He has sold his soul."

Ramos' and Abreu's charges include three counts of second-degree conspiracy, punishable

.... was the DA in charge of one of my stolen car cases ( I was the victim, btw, not the suspect. No, really!) back in the late eighties/early 90's.

As I recall she was quite sympathetic. Incredibly, they ( the police) actually found the car and arrested the people who were in it. About a month after the fact.

So she's gone over to the other side..... hmmm.

There's a "forget it Jake, it's Chinatown" aura surrounding this entire affair. ( The murder-for-hire/ticket-fixing plot, that is.)
