(1,301 posts)Uphill climb but worth it. Seems McGrath is making a splash with her entrance.
Mark Putnam put the ad together for her. That's pretty solid.

(9,287 posts)We will see if Kentucky cares to have an American hero representing the state. It has a chance to vote its professed values- we see if these beliefs are as disposable as 45 hopes they are.

We absolutely MUST change the House and Senate in 2018. Our country depends on it.

From the looks of her, easy is unfamiliar territory for her.
I wish I could work on her campaign.

(180 posts)That is an amazing ad, and sets the perfect tone for the campaign. Democrats should have been professing the benefits of ACA for years now. Now that people have had a chance to understand the benefits of ACA, they are in a position to finally understand how devastating it would be for Republicans to repeal this program.
Not to mention, the Republicans have absolutely nothing in mind to replace ACA right now if they do succeed in repealing it. State block grants sure won't solve the issue, especially if the talking point is they want to reduce government bureaucracy. haha
Keep reminding voters about every single repeal vote the Republicans made, and how they had nothing but talking points for 8 years now.

(13,305 posts)That seems to be all the people who control the purse strings in our party want to support, so.......
Note: Not a dig at her. She seems great. We'd be lucky to have her. I'm just tired of having great candidates who can't get enough traction because the party only wants to spend money and resources on sure things that require no effort, risk, hard work, groundwork, or basically anything other than a gimmie seat. It's why I only give money directly to candidates and not the party itself any more.

(24,654 posts)The stuff about the party purse strings pissed me off! He's a great example of showing that it can be done by people you wouldn't ordinarily think would have a chance...and then proving how freaking fantastic they are as politicians. You're absolutely right. I hope she's able to get it done with or without their support.

(6,977 posts)In the 2018 & 2020 elections. Between voter-purging, voter-crosschecking, gerrymandering and the ruskies, these next set of elections are going to be scary. thuglicans control EVERY aspect of our voting system
I have little to NO faith in our voter election system, especially since thuglicans are in total control of it.

(1,290 posts)There's already an announced candidate in the KY-6 race, State Sen. Reggie Thomas: http://www.reggie4ky.com
It might be that McGrath as an outsider is better positioned than Thomas, but Thomas also has a solid progressive record in the Kentucky Senate and is an adept politician.
Also have heard of other possible Democrats running. May the best one win!
