Georgia cancels registration of more than 591,500 votersKristina Torres The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Being made an inactive voter has consequence, said Sean Young, the legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia, which on Friday sued Fulton County over the fact that some of the address confirmation notices went to voters who had moved within the same county.
The group says those voters should not face the possibility of being declared inactive because state law doesnt mandate such an action for that particular group of voters. The ACLU said it also believes that goes beyond whats federally allowed.
Intimidating and confusing voters with bureaucratic nonsense, Young said, is classic voter suppression.

(146,331 posts)Needs to get on the job of registering voters and helping voters check their registrations, especially in places like Georgia. That must be part of our GOTV efforts, since voters who are not registered or who have had their registrations made inactive in this way cannot vote.
Yes, it's wrong for Georgia to do this, but the only recourse is to physically make sure that voters are registered or get re-registered before the deadline in each state.
If ever there was an opportunity for activism that actually accomplishes its goal, this is it. Organization should begin immediately in every district, county and state to make sure such an effort is in place, is well-organized, and has enough people to make it work.
If any DUer wants something to do, politically, I recommend doing this. It's going to take a lot of work, a lot of time, and lots of people.
Do something! Do something important! Do it where you live!
