Saving the Olympics....

First of all, let's get this straight, Romney didn't save the Olympics per se, he saved the reputation of the International Olympic Committee.

It was their ossified structure of depending mostly on bribes in order to get things done that needed to be changed.

It was also important to the State of Utah that these games needed to go off without a hitch because. I'm going out on a limb here, it would have shown badly on the Latter-day Saints.

My guess it that Romney was probably picked more because of his religion than for his business acumen.

After all, if Romney had used his first business inclinations to save the Salt Lake Olympics they probably would have been held in China.

I kid, I kid.

Seriously, the highest profiled Mormon in the country was needed to pull that off.

What he really did was go around to all the CEO's in the country and told them that he was now in charge of the Olympics and that it was time to start kicking in the dough re mi so that the US of A wouldn't look like a corrupted third world country.

Just some thoughts.

I'm glad he was there to straighten up Olympic but if they were held in Casper or Olympia, Wyoming and Washington would have probably looked to someone they were comfortable with and I would bet good money that it would not be the Mittster...

The US team in Salt Lake wore Berets in the opening ceremony! and the berets were made in Canada, not the US!!!! And Romney was in charge!!!
