(20,210 posts)I know they use the DC exchange to choose their health insurance plan, but otherwise they get the same employer contribution as all federal employees.

(59,504 posts)They and their staffers get all or a portion paid by their employer - the Federal government. It is that part paid by the federal government that is being called a "subsidy".
The short sightedness of this is mindboggling. Many wealthy members of Congress would not be hurt much from this, but there are many who are making LESS than they did in the private sector, where they had - if anything - more deluxe plans. In addition, they need to maintain a residence in their state and most need a DC home as well.
