I think the American people's deficit concern is irrational and destructive, in our current economic climate, but it's a little late in the campaign to educate anyone.
People do care about the deficit, and the deficit is by far Romney's best issue in terms of how people rate him versus Obama.
So, playing the cards we're dealt here...
Doesn't it trouble any of these goobers that Romney would VASTLY increase the deficit?
Likely hugely... enormously... tremendously...
It's what he's running on.
It's as if George W. Bush's highest issue rating in 2004 was, "Will keep us out of bogus wars."
So though I don't like encouraging deficit-derangement syndrome among the populace, it might not hurt any to note that Romney's stated policies would send the deficit from the stratosphere all the way to the moon.

(9,841 posts)The public actually thinks Romney is better on the deficit than Obama, 50/36! If this became an issue, I'm pretty sure the main reason a good number of independents might vote for Romney could be neutralized, yielding Obama an easy 3-4 more points, and putting this election away.
