(3,910 posts)McCain passed his wireless microphone to one woman who said, "I can't trust Obama. I have read about him and he's not, he's not uh he's an Arab. He's not " before McCain retook the microphone and replied:
"No, ma'am. He's a decent family man [and] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign's all about. He's not [an Arab]."

Recognizing, of course, that his campaign was buoyed by those same folks he would denounce for the Muslim crap.

(16,104 posts)That little speech McCain had was also aimed at Trump - and now if Trump goes after Republicans while sitting on the sidelines golfing, insulting the Boy Scouts of America, and tweeting hateful attacks, he is going to feel the full wrath of an equal branch of government!

It's also the ultimate FU to trump and the rest of the ultra-extreme conservative cabal who believed they were omnipotent on this.

(7,530 posts)I think he might have still been playing chess. If he hadn't voted to advance, they'd be pushing the repeal the rest of the year and doing nothing else.
I think he just wanted to do a Mortal Kombat FINISH IT! in hopes there could be a productive debate. When that didn't happen, he head stomped 45 and pulled out his spine.
Wait, scratch that, 45 doesn't have a spine.
He pulled out his brain.
Wait...
