Because who even KNOWS if our votes will even COUNT in 2018/2020 no matter how many of us get out to vote?

We have a Dept. of Homeland Security that doesn't CARE if the ruskies continue interfering with our democracy/elections. tRumputin's beholden to putin for helping to get him into the White House, so he says that the "russia thing" is a hoax. 99% of the GOP in the Senate/Congress are drunk with power and they want to destroy this country and murder it's citizens (Even the ones who voted for them) by taking away their health care so they & their families can just go away and DIE, and so the GOP really needs their useful idiot in the White House as you can imagine.

Like I said, the odds are stacked against our votes even counting in 2018 to vote thuglicans out as things stand, so the GOP may end up with permanent power--that's what they're angling for.

3. The dems aren't going to have any influence for a long, long time, if ever.

The voting irregularities aren't going to get any better the next 2-4 years and then we have another census & if the redistricting goes as badly as the last one - which left the dems powerless in the House for a decade - we're fucked for another decade. Add all the state governorships & houses the GOP has racked up, where the voter disenfranchisement really happens, the outlook is bleak. As grim as it's ever been, since the Civil War, imo. The new dem slogan is boring & doesn't mean shit. They have no clue how to message or get the message out. That has been an issue for the dems for over three decades. They need to get Al Franken, John Oliver & Jon Stewart in a room & come up with some fucking awesome framing or they are gong to continue to lose.

7. Using "Better" is not necessarily a good thing. Trumpeteers think they're working towards "Best".

Because they've been coaxed into Hate by decades of Evilangelical propaganda, they'll still forgo "Better" if they are given the chance to punch some Coastal Hippies on the way down to a self-created Hell on Earth.
They forgot the values they grew up with, if they were taught any in the first place. The privilege of living in isolation is strong in most people who voted for Drumpf. They don't live in the world outside their particular snowglobes, and they don't want to compromise - whether it's a case of "no compromise anymore" or "we just never accepted that sort of thinking - Clan and County First and Always!".

They don't want "Better". They just want to Burn It All Down and get even with those they think have held them down.

You might be able to get them to the Step 1 - admitting they're working against their own best interests. But that's only if you're like them in the first place. If you go to their churches, and act all earnest and deferential, and gently bribe them. But that's only the first step.
It takes years to erase that kind of hate, and some of them will never give it up - they're already addicted to it.

Not that the republican agenda hasn't been completely clear for a quarter century now.

But, it is completely in action now, and we are an out and out authoritarian fascist state.

This country either completely repudiates them, or it says it's ok with it.
