A response from a Young Adult Lady (probably 18-20) ...

and her Grandmother that I overheard. It completely destroyed the "But (President) Obama is a 1%er, too" narrative.

Grandmother: "I can't stand all this class warfare talk from (President) Obama. He seems to think we're stupid ... He is a member of the 1% that he demonizes."

Young Woman: "But Grandma ... just having alot of money doesn't make someone a 1%er; it's the attitude of entitlement, of being special, that gets you that label."

Grandmother: "Oh come on. It's all about bashing the rich and successful."

Young Woman: "No, it's not. Grandma, saying someone is a 1%er because they have alot of money is like saying someone is a racist because they are white. There are millionaires that I would not consider 1%ers because they do not do what 1%ers do. Just like there are white people that do not act like racists."

If your income is in the 99% percentile, then you are a 1%-er. It's interesting that the term is evolving in a different direction for other people.

But I agree that just because you're in the 1% doesn't mean you are necessarily against the 99%.
