Must Read - Charles Blow describes the median Trump supporter to a tee

Trump was simply a megaphone for the primal screams of Barack Obama-Hillary Clinton haters flipping out over the cultural anxiety accompanying the ascension of women and minorities.

He helped people find the language and the platform to disguise racial worry as economic worry. He helped people who inherently, in many cases maybe even subconsciously, loathe women, at least when they aspire to equality or power, to loathe Hillary Clinton, a woman aspiring to more power.

But there are other examples. Notably, last summer Trump claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had used a racial slur to refer to Barack Obama, but just seconds later Trump was hoping that Putin would like him. Trump said:

“I was shocked to hear him mention the N-word. You know what the N-word is, right? … He has a total lack of respect for President Obama. No. 1, he doesn’t like him and No. 2, he doesn’t respect him. I think he’s going to respect your president if I’m elected and I hope he likes me.”

Now of course this could all be a lie. Our president lies the way other people breathe — with a complete absence of effort. But true or false, it is a curious story to relay. The president claimed that he was “shocked” at the racial epithet, but not too shocked to abandon a desire for Putin’s favor. If you don’t unequivocally reject intolerance, you are passively — and in some cases, actively — encouraging it.

He is an instinctual creature, living on a steady diet of TV, Twitter and turpitude. There is no appetite for the intellectual. There is no desire for depth. There is no tolerance for truth.

It is people whose world got shaken when Obama was elected and who were forced for eight years to straighten up their act a little bit. They were scared their precious sense of white supremacy was going to be taken away for good, and Trump brought it all back, reassuring them with his views on brown minorities and "thugs" (It's appalling how he thinks he scores points by being "informed" - "You know what the n-word is, right?" ). He was the ultimate dog-whistle that the black dude was out of the White House and everything was safe for them again--that's why he only makes speeches in backwater rural areas where they will turn out in droves for him.

They've always been there. They had to lay low for eight years, but then came screaming out of the shadows, so glad they could finally bring their hatred out in the open with the coded approval of a President who is a bigot like them. Their hatred was so bottled up for nearly a decade it was like opening the insane asylum doors.

This is the reason they will approve of 45 no matter what insane damage he does to the country and their welfare. They're "one issue" voters.

Trump is saying, look how little respect Obama has - I will be a million times better as President.

Of course he's full of it, but that's the undercurrent. All the world disrespects the U.S. because of Obama. In right wing crazy world.

And he does so very theatrically, which only intensifies the appeal to our right-wing friends - like so many other fascist demagogues before him.

I'm not aware of any racist epithets for the Kurds, though the Turks and Iraqis probably do. Neither do we have a purposely cruel slur meaning "untouchables" like many countries do. Heck, how many Americans know what a "proddy" is?

Nope. That was all PINO playing to his base and putting his own spin on it.

to his base: Justifying reference to President Obama as a n****r if you dislike or disrespect him. Any bets as to how many of his audience have done the same as Putin allegedly did? They can relate to ol' Vlad!
