I am backing DirecTV for this fight, Viacom is an idiot - 30% increase when their ratings are really BAD?
I know DirecTV has counteroffered a 7% increase.
I just wish Viacom would focus on fixing their own products first before demanding more money.
My son is a big Nickelodeon fan, and right now, there's not very much on in the way of "modern" cartoons that is age appropriate for him (3).
Of all the Viacom's products - Nickeledeon and Comedy Central is probably only ones worth keeping.

(1,326 posts)Viacom is being completely childish. They've now posted on their Facebook page a picture of Spongebob crying with the caption "Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? I don't know, I have DirecTV". Extremely childish, if you ask me. Especially since Viacom were the ones who forced the channels off the air themselves, and they're now lying and saying "No we didn't- they did!".

(100 posts)This is one service that charges a premium price but really does provide a superior product.
I'm a huge tennis fan. For the Grand Slams I get SIX channels of live matches!
Viacom is huffing glue. I agree with the above post. They have 2, maybe 3 channels I would willingly have on my service (happen to like the music festivals on Palladium quite a lot).

(1,735 posts)to get a Roku. A small device that streams Nickelodeon and CC. It's $80 bucks one time and you can subscribe to Hulu and Netflix for $8.00 a month. That's all I need. I can get the networks via an antenna, as well as listen to MSNBC's lefty's at my leisure. Lots less expensive and much more flexible.

(3,013 posts)The ratings for Viacom's networks are always on the bottom when compared to other national cable networks. And now Viacom has decided that childlike tactics will win them support. It's failing, badly. Everywhere I go, support for DirecTV's side is far greater than Viacom's.
Who are the idiots in charge of Viacom, and why haven't they been fired yet?

(39,343 posts)and in the same breath they complain about the ratings for those channels. Snookie and hours of Boy Meets World reruns from a decade ago does not good tv viewing make. Neither MTV nor MTV2 show any MUSIC. It's all Jersey Shore garbage and stupid shows that no one else would watch. I only recently started checking out VH1 Classic for the occasional concert that is worth recording.
I hope they fix their situation soon before another episode of Bubble Guppies comes out on Nickelodeon. My little one loves that show and we've dvr'ed all the other episodes.

(1,039 posts)We use DTV but don't watch any Viacom channels (that I know of). The kids used to watch iCarly, but now they are focused on Mythbusters (Discovery and Science channels, I think) and a bunch of Disney stuff (ANT farm, Pair of Kings). Personally, I'd drop TV entirely if it was just for me. I watch an occassional movie (usually Netflix or Redbox Blu-ray), but that's it.
