This is from Fox News:
Former congressman Dennis Kucinich doesn't see anything criminal about Donald Trump Jr.'s controversial June 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer.
He explained that attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya claimed to have information damaging to Hillary Clinton, but it appears that she set up the meeting under false pretenses, as she really wanted to discuss a U.S. program for the adoption of Russian children.
Trump Jr. maintains that Veselnitskaya had no "opposition research" on Clinton and nothing came from the brief meeting.
"Big picture, I think this thing is a bunch of nothing," Kucinich said on "The Fox News Specialists." "I really do."

When did Kucinich become a RW Fox News stooge?

I can't see why he would go on faux news and utter this b.s.??

All his alleged progressive and leftist stance was all for show to get elected.

(115,780 posts)He was awfully popular among progressives for awhile, but I never thought he was the real deal. More recently he's proving he's as flaky as I suspected he was.

(58,724 posts)I don't fully understand what underpinned his transition.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,780 posts)He has taken many liberal positions that I agree with, but he has also aligned himself with the Greens and Jill Stein. In May he said that the "deep state" was trying to destroy Trump. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2017/05/18/kucinich_deep_state_trying_to_take_down_trump_our_country_is_under_attack_within.html
So there's that.

(5,299 posts)but it makes me think of a very unfunny movie from 1980 called "First Family," written and directed by Buck Henry, where a throwaway line talked about a Democratic congressman who got so rich taking bribes that he became a Republican.

Seems to happen almost every time.

(12,618 posts)back in '04. Many of my super progressive friends at the time couldn't understand. They acted like I was practically supporting Bush and the Iraq War. But shit like this is why. I simply don't trust the man. Something about him has always rubbed me the wrong way. And although it was never something I could put my finger on, his behavior since then has only vindicated my position.

(22,913 posts)Both Dean and Clark had solid leftist support, but also critics on the left who didn't understand how a progressive could back them. Both men had the honor and substance needed to lead. And I later swung behind Kerry without any reservations. I never could get behind Kucinich, though obviously I would have supported him over Bush at the time.

(9,670 posts)The fact that tens of millions of Americans think that they are watching the news and instead are ingesting weaponized propaganda is the core issue that drives the demise of the USA.
I used to really like Dennis Kucinich. I feel terrible to know that the values he espoused were not genuine.

(7,261 posts)He's always been about the people. He fought a hard battle to save the municipal electric plant from an army of bankers and industrialists who wanted it shuttered.
The last time he disappeared from the public eye, after his mayorship ended, he was a college professor as I recall. Later he ran for Congress and served in the 10th district for years until it was gerrymandered out of existence. While in Congress he was a staunch defender of liberal values.
I don't recall another time in his past where he went over to the dark side like this. He's had odd moments relating his experiences with UFOs and for all I know other weird stuff but I don't think he's ever NOT been a champion of the people.
All I can imagine is he's in desperate need of money to sell his soul like this.

He's not out building houses for poor people or anything, just buddying up for Russia and going to bat for the Trumps. People need to let go of the past and see things and people for what they are now.

(11,742 posts)Whether for nostalgia, for their own grievances with the party, or whatever... there will be people who think what he has to say has some merit or interest.
Overall however, Kucinich's days of influence in the Democratic Party are over.

(32,886 posts)believe that Trump conspired with the Russians because they have an agenda.
That agenda is that JPR types want to be able to attack Democrats and the DNC for having the temerity to vote to give the nomination to Hillary instead of Bernie. They want nothing to be able to detract from their assertion that Hillary was a terrible nominee. They can't do that if evidence shows that Trump cheated and Hillary would have won absent that cheating.
Kucinich might be approaching this from that angle.
Is he still a jerk for doing that? Yes. But the reasoning is different than attempting to appease right wing types.

(1,242 posts)"Kucinich told Bill O'Reilly Monday night that a phone call to his congressional office from a foreign leader was tapped in 2011. Kucinich said he listened to the recording after leaving office in 2015."
"I cleared the discussion with House attorneys, and a member of Congress is not supposed to be listened to by the executive branch," he continued. "The director of national intelligence under President Obama was tracking my resolution, and I didn't find out until two years after I had left Congress."
Kucinich revealed in a Friday FoxNews.com column that investigative reporters from the Washington Times contacted him after obtaining the tape to verify his voice on the recording.
"When I met them at a Chinese restaurant in Washington, they played back audio of a call I had taken in my D.C. congressional office four years earlier," he told O'Reilly."

(32,886 posts)This isn't complicated. Members of the Libyan government were the targets of wiretapping and spying efforts. And they should have been. When they called Kucinich, that call was picked up just like all of that Libyans other calls.
Distorting that to "Obama tapped my phone, a member of congress' phone" and then whining about it is part of the reason why his attempts to run for President went nowhere.
Some people are taken in my distortion and exaggeration, but not many. Particularly not many Democrats.

(53,038 posts)Voters do. JPR supports the Russian operation to undermine democracy because they likewise oppose democracy.

(19,565 posts)Just don't pretend people like Kicinich have ethics, or are driven by such. He's a fake, a con artist even. Not unlike Trump, but on the left. Yeah, they exist. Don't fool yourself into believing just because they say what you want to hear they're pure. Pay close attention with your logical mind. Vet your candidates with your logical mind, not your emotions, or your hopes and dreams.
I've learned so much in the past 13 years of my life. Many, many hard lessons, more than I care to admit. I'm not an easy con anymore like I was in my younger years. I'm well and truly woke.
