I really hope he gets pummeled so hard that we can feel the rumblings of the pummeling from NYC
He calls the base of the party hillbots. Really nice not-sexist wording there guy.

They buy-in from corporate and business men and women and the help from the so-called elites that the "progressives" disparage so often. If we don't recognize that we need all hand on board we will continue to be in the sinking GOP ship with them having the only life jackets.

(31,112 posts)Just kidding, i predicted, long before anyone, that SOME so called progressives would do everything they could to elect more republicans.
Nancy can and will whip him at the polls, but in many cases when these folks primary they will cause major problems.
Personally I would like to see someone 20 times more liberal on wall street and economics than even Bernie Sanders, but right now my focus is on not dying from putin or fascists.

"Stephen Jaffe, 71, may not be hip to the digital lifestyle, but hes already learned lesson No 1: Everything you post on social media can come back to bite you in the tuchas.
In October, he shared what he called a politically incorrect point of view on Facebook that has some supporters slapping their foreheads.
Like everyone else, I have no control over who I am; I am an old white guy, Jaffe wrote. Many local candidates emphasize their diversity being all female, LGBT or of different genders and ethnicities, and they garner support from those groups, he claimed.
But there is no Old White Guys Democratic Club in San Francisco, Jaffe decried. Many claim our government is controlled by old white straight men like me. But in San Franciscos Democratic Party circles we are subtlely [sic] unwelcome because we are perceived as a politically incorrect liability.

(32,342 posts)The journalist who wrote up the story I posted is a lefty--I don't know who Jaffe thinks his constituency is, but it isn't the majority of San Francisco.
There are genuinely good progressives in San Francisco, I don't want folks to think this guy is representative.
I just don't know why he's being touted as the young new face of the Democratic Party, when he's 71? And obviously has retrograde views on race.
NastyRiffraff
(12,448 posts)I can't understand the "young face" thing either. And I know San Francisco; there are indeed good liberal Democrats there. I don't think this guy is one of them.

Is that what you are saying ?
I wouldnt think that myself... I think there were some real die-hards on each side, but when I hear "Berniebros," although I voted for Sanders in the primary, I dont feel that that term applies to me.

KTM
(1,823 posts)His purpose presumably is to change the direction of the party he feels needs change. He believes voters there will support policies that he feels his opponent wont support, so he is running for office. Thats how the system works.
He says dumb things, appears to not know his electorate well, and is going to get crushed, but ascribing his motivation to a desire to "destroy/cause chaos to the party" is asinine.
pirateshipdude
(967 posts)KTM
(1,823 posts)What fact can you point to that backs up your assertion this person's *goal* is to either destroy the Democratic party or cause chaos ? Other than your own attestment, where is it ? Where is the claim, the action, the rhetoric to which you refer?
The only goals I can see are "Free public university. Cut military spending & export. Universal, singlepayer healthcare."
This guy is going to get crushed, and thats fine, but I dont see the nefarious agenda you allege.
pirateshipdude
(967 posts)Only for it to be dismissed. The info is there.
I will leave it at that.
KTM
(1,823 posts)You actually have nothing to back up your claims, its just more hyperbolic nonsense meant to inflame and divide. Got it.
"5 decades of Sanders rhetoric ?" This thread is about some dipshit in SF... THAT guy you said had a goal of "destroying the Democratic party." Just so we're all clear here, are you now stating that both this guy AND Senator Sanders have that goal in common ?
pirateshipdude
(967 posts)KTM
(1,823 posts)The only thing you've delivered here is a series of ducks and dodges... you've not provided a single thing to back your original assertion; the most substantive thing you have had to say is "eom."
If you have something to spell out, by all means, DO IT. Otherwise, we can safely assume there is nothing you *can* bring to back your claim. And that's OK - one can't be asked to prove a negative, nor can one bring facts to back up obvious hyperbole.

(1,823 posts)I know plenty of facts, and am quite politically aware, thanks. I dont see *any* that point to a desire from either of these people to destroy the party as you have asserted. I am quite conifdent that there are none, as are you I believe. The answer to your question is "Avoiding personal responsibility and trying to save face."
Enjoy the seaside break.

(53,866 posts)also, look at the rest of this thread. He's retweeting Tim Canova who is still talking about the Seth Rich DNC conspiracy, more than half the primary voters voted for hillary in his district (55-43), and he says things like old white men are discouraged from SF politics.

...which doesn't produce colorful nationally recognized Congresscritters, just good Democrats, we are told will have an obscene amount of GOP money thrown into the race next year. That's not just local rumor, that's the Los Angeles Times. Our Congressman is in his first term, and already there's a lineup of 4 Republicans coming for him, including the guy who lost to him the last time.
So when I read here that Nancy Pelosi "should be primaried," and we "should be looking for new talent" and garbage like that, I truly have to wonder what their motives are. Because the GOP really wants her dead and gone.

(11,175 posts)For example, based on what I read about the Georgia special election, the Republicans spent millions of dollars on ads that portrayed a centrist Democrat, Jon Ossoff, as the pawn of the radical leftist Pelosi.
If by some fluke Pelosi were to lose her seat, it would take the Republicans a while to gin up the same level of demonization against her successor as Democratic leader.
The GOP knows it can't capture that seat. Given that the Member of Congress will be a Democrat, the GOP would rather it be Pelosi than an unknown.
