(Spoiler Alert: They don't get multiple do-overs like every Trump crony does)
TAMPA A jury convicted a federal immigration officer Wednesday of two counts of lying to government investigators questioning him about a sexual relationship with a foreign national from Ecuador who came to his office seeking help.
Jeffrey F. Bohn, 55, of Riverview worked for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in Tampa. He met Laura Maldonado and her 10-year-old son during a scheduled immigration interview about her children's residency status on Sept. 11, 2006, contacted her afterward and offered to assist her with her own citizenship status, according to testimony.
The relationship went on for several months before things soured. When Maldonado's application for widow status was turned down, he declined to see her, telling her to make an appointment, she testified. She showed up with an attorney and complained to his boss. This week, U.S. District Judge Mary S. Scriven dismissed two counts against Bohn of making false statements about his sex life on a federal security clearance questionnaire. But the judge allowed jurors to decide whether he had lied to investigators about the affair.
The agents were from the Department of Homeland Security's office of inspector general. Both times, he denied knowing or having sex with Maldonado. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara Sweeney. A sentencing date has not been set. The crime is punishable by up to 10 years in federal prison.

(14,110 posts)This particular piece of this shitstorm really, really gets my blood pressure up. These fuckers are all felons, and should be treated as such...you don't get a do-over. A security clearance is not the 5th hole on a golf course.

(39,343 posts)If you lie on the form and do not clarify during the personal interview, not only does your paperwork get coded for having issues, if you've already started working or you have a clearance, a suitably investigation is launched that ends in you losing your clearances, your job, and possibly having criminal charges filed against you depending on the offense and level of deceit.
