I've got Tweety coming up in a few minutes and I'll gauge by his reaction.
Tomorrow's Morning Joe should be interesting. They tiptoe around the outright racist support that Romney is getting. Maybe they'll get real about this incident and see it for what it is: a bald faced plan to have black people boo him and get traction with the racist voters. They've already found out that the polling shows that people are not saying they'll vote for him because they like him, but because they don't like Obama.
We'll see...

(111,103 posts)What kind of reaction did he expect?? Is he really that out of touch with reality? He didn't look for issues of common ground, he intentionally looked for the most divisive issues he could find. Who was he really talking to?

(24,414 posts)knowing that they probably wouldn't be receptive to him. Or maybe they'll claim that the NAACP is "divisive" and I'm sure some of the wingnut hate radio hosts will probably play the "racism" card against the NAACP. They may also try to spin President Obama's absence as "cowardly" or some craziness like that.
BTW is there some official reason that President Obama isn't attending the gathering? I assume that it has to do with his schedule or something but it would have been interesting to see the kind of reception that he would get vs. what Romney got. I'm sure that Joe will represent him well and receive a positive reception.

(21,925 posts)Bashir suggested it was a specific provocation intended to impress his right wing base. Smerconish and Jealous noted Romney's use of the term "Obamacare" which is a politically charged name for the ACA and that the real audience was not the NAACP members but the Republican base.

If the NAACP are booing Mitt, he's the Great White Hope (at least in the racist wing's minds). Like Reagain launching his 1980 campaign in Philadelphia, MS.

(129,096 posts)but I expect you saw Ben Jealous' reasonable reaction and Willie Brown's sortof diatribe dancing around bashing Obama but fortunately settling on bashing Rmoney instead.
What is hilarious but not unexpected, CNN's website has refused to headline it like MSNBC's website. I think they are waiting for the Faux Snooze talking points on how to spin it before they say much.

(111,103 posts)He wasn't talking to the NAACP. He was talking to the most right-wing of his base.
