Mr. Wray, a former federal prosecutor in President George W. Bushs administration and a criminal defense lawyer, is facing questions about whether he will maintain the bureaus independence and resist pressure from the White House.
Mr. Wray said that the investigation into Russian election interference and possible links to Mr. Trumps campaign was not a witch hunt, separating himself from Mr. Trumps repeated assertion.
