Is Romney running just to keep his taxes low?

I had the most cynical thought yesterday, but it seems to make sense.
Romney has no clue on any issues. He basically will be just a figurehead to rubber stamp whatever the crazies tell him to.
He doesn't need the $400,000 / year salary. I can only guess why he is running.
I know he has Daddy issues and an ego the size Russia. But my instinct always says "Where is the money angle?"

So it occurred to me that at his yearly income (~$30,000,000 / year) he is now paying 15% or about $4.5 million / year. His kids are most likely paying 15% also.
But if taxes were to revert for folks like him to 35% he would be paying an extra 20%/ year or a total of about 10.5 million/year.
- Multiply that by the at least 20 more years he will live and he saves himself (at $6 mil/yr.) @ $120 million. That is a lot more than $400,000 / year.
- plus he will be saving his kids bookoo bucks also.
- I won't even mention his buddies. Just on an individual level he saves big big bundles.

pretty unseemly, isn't it? i'm sure it's not the ONLY reason, but yeah, that's part of it. unblock Jul 2012 #2

part of me thinks any president or congresscritter who proposes a tax cut should not be able to benefit from it themselves, forced to pay at the higher rate.

actually, they should volunteer it. you'd think they would want to do so to avoid the appearance of doing it for themselves.
