Bono hangs out with George W. Bush at his Texas ranch

A little late for LBN - but I didn't see this posted here.

Lead U2 singer Bono made a pit stop Friday at former President George W. Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, a few hours before his band's sold-out concert in nearby Richardson.

"Bono is the real deal," Bush wrote on Instagram, along with a photo of himself with Bono at the Prairie Chapel Ranch. "He has a huge heart and a selfless soul, not to mention a decent voice. @laurawbush and I are grateful he came to the ranch to talk about the work of @thebushcenter, @onecampaign, @PEPFAR, and our shared commitment to saving lives in Africa."

Crawford is near Waco and Richarson is north of Dallas. I guess both are in the same state so that makes it nearby (122 miles).

to counter my urge to see him positively relative to Trump. That fact only underscores how intensely horrific, is Trump.

toward trump.

trump is just an emotionally stunted, vindictive vandal. Even more despicable than trump, however, are Ryan and McConnell who assault us with him, and use him as a vehicle and cover for their anti-democratic agenda-- and for the media culture that incubated and nurtured that shit-for-a-soul's success.

I never felt that kind of disdain for Bush. It seems that the Obamas, the Clintons, and Bono, among others, have made their peace with George Bush the person. I'm okay with that.

Does that mean we have then acquiesced to right-wing governing philosophy and GOP tactics? No. But we can't lose our ability to recognize the humanity in others.

trump may no longer have the capacity to do the work of self-examination and redemption. He only sees ridicule and purchased adoration and has no internal spark that would try to fathom why.

trump holds grudges, is consumed by them, is governed by them. We have to move on, while remembering history and honestly assessing our mistakes and successes.

Bush was fundamentally misguided but his moral compass seemed to be working unlike the thug who currently resides in the White House.

Nearby Richardson, if 132 miles away is nearby. It's a 2 hour drive.
