(50,303 posts)anymore, you mark down the price. Then you mark it down again. Eventually you realize it costs more to produce the coal than what you can sell it for so you decide to open a wind turbine business. At least Rick Perry has his dancing to fall back on.

(31,121 posts)Neither of them know anything about anything, at all.
Trump knows nothing, at all, about real estate or business. Nothing. Not to mention government, science, etc.
Rick Perry knows nothing about anything especially anything to do with the job he is tasked with.
Donald Trump did not know what a "strong dollar" was. He knows nothing, well not nothing, what he knows is how to lie and steal, but if you asked him what any of the NYS laws are to do with real estate, for instance, he would not have a clue.
The problem isnt people this dumb existing, the problem is people as dumb or dumber than them electing them into positions they have no business being anywhere near. Sure the election was stolen, but someone as dumb and mean and sick as trump should not have received 30% of the vote, let alone what he did get. SICK
Climate change WILL kill billions, or kill millions and displace billions, and most of this could STILL be avoided, but not now, we have no way around it now.
And why? Woman with private server, oh my.

(1,945 posts)I don't know how Perry graduated but he must have had help (cheated) in all of his classes. My degree required 3 different kinds of chemistry, microbiology, biology, zoology, genetics, statistics, (how to grow)forage crops...just off the top of my head. Plus learning the anatomy/physiology of all the species of animals you would find in farming, ranching, ag vet medicine etc.
It was all some form of science other than the basic general ed requirements like English, math, history and so on. I can't imagine how a dolt like this guy got through it all and managed to graduate. I wonder if he was just passed on via some kind of legacy deal, like GWBush.

(14,920 posts)"As governor of Texas, Rick Perry has pursued a controversial agenda that would gut Texas vaunted public university system in favor of something that more closely resembles a business.
......
One reason that might explain his hostility toward the system: He didnt do very well in it. A source in Texas passed The Huffington Post Perrys transcripts from his years at Texas A&M University. The future politician did not distinguish himself much in the classroom. While he later became a student leader, he had to get out of academic probation to do so. He rarely earned anything above a C in his courses earning a C in U.S. History, a D in Shakespeare, and a D in the principles of economics. Perry got a C in gym.
Perry also did poorly on classes within his animal science major. In fall semester 1970, he received a D in veterinary anatomy, a F in a second course on organic chemistry and a C in animal breeding. He did get an A in world military systems and Improv. of Learning his only two As while at A&M.
A&M wasnt exactly Harvard on the Brazos River, recalled a Perry classmate in an interview with The Huffington Post. This was not the brightest guy around. We always kind of laughed. He was always kind of a joke.....(more)

It will also create employment opportunities as they will need ppl to convert their cars/homes.
And they may need ppl to fuel the coal to the engines until they develop the technology.

(10,279 posts)They argued over the size of truck to buy, and finally Rick gave in to the decision to buy a smaller truck that could haul a max of 10 tons of melons, instead of a bigger one that could haul 20 tons. As a concession, Rick was allowed to set operating values. He chose to buy melons at $1 a pound, take them to NYC, and sell them wholesale at $100 per 100 pounds. After a year of operating, the two owners reviewed their losses, and Rick declared to his partner "see, I told ya that we should have bought the bigger truck." Rick left that business in ruin and went on to become the governor of Texas and subsequently the Sec. of DOE, bestowing on those two positions the benefit of his business experience.

(19,204 posts)I've been thinking about opening a buggy whip manufacturing facility, but I wasn't quite sure it was the correct time to do so. Rick Perry has inspired me, and now I'm going to do it!
I'd like my DU compatriots to be the VERY FIRST to hear my announcement of;
THE SERGESTORMS BUGGY WHIP COMPANY!
Buggy whips for the 21st Century!
I've set manufacturing goals of 10 million units in the first year alone, and I'm quite sure we'll sell MANY more than that.
And I owe EVERYTHING to Rick Perry. Without his economic wisdom I might have sat on this idea forever, and SOMEONE ELSE would have cornered the buggy whip market. Now I feel assured of my, and my family's, financial future.
I'M SO PSYCHED! GOD BLESS 'MURKA!

(17,956 posts)...how about manual typewriters and 8 track tapes! Well make a fortune!
SergeStorms
(19,204 posts)I have CASES of 8 track tapes in my basement, just waiting for the right moment to bring them out. I'll do the buggy whips, and I'm SURE the demand is going to go through the roof, so you'll have to do the 8 tracks all by yourself. We'll have to bring a third person in for the manual typewriters though. There just aren't going to be enough hours in the day for the work WE have to do!
Thanks once again, Rick Perry! You're truly a great human being. Now let's get to work!
