It's been going on for days here in Baton Rouge...apparently also Phoenix, Houston, etc....Spotty at best for several days but pretty much zilch since yesterday....Foreign cyber attack? Trump practicing for when shit hits fan? Or just an incompetent company that can't deliver the goods and will still charge full fee unless an individual gripes about it?

(1,097 posts)DNS Servers whose addresses are delivered to your modem/router via DHCP are usually the culprit. I've cut own on service outages by placing the OpenDNS server addresses as the set DNS address in my router's DHCP settings.
Don't have Cox now, so not sure why people have had two days of outages, but it can be as simple as resetting the router to get new DNS addresses via DHCP or rebooting the PC to flush the DNS.

(4,572 posts)Nothing to do with my router etc...that it was a large unplanned outage....the outage maps I have seen do show major outages in South louisiana and Phoenix Houston etc...major outage in New Orleans area a few days back is being investigated by utility commission...so I'm not sure the company is so blameless
