Let's face it: voter suppression, gerrymandering and an unverifiable voting process

are all the Rs need to keep winning/stealing elections.

Forget about "Hillary didn't do this or that." She won 3 million more votes and she would have won the states that tipped the election to tRump were it not for voter suppression.

Forget about "Ds need to connect more to voters." They already appeal to more voters. But thanks to gerrymandering, the Rs control Congress, even though Ds earned a million more votes for Congress than did Rs

Forget about trusting anything when we can't verify the vote.

We need to attack the real problems, not the crap the MSM harps on every day.

hillary got 3 million more votes in the actual vote count.

were it not for voter suppression, perhaps as many as 9 million more might have voted. hard to know, of course, but i saw an estimate of 200,000 in wisconsin alone and that state has under 2% of the total u.s. population. if those 9 million had gone 2-1 for clinton (remember, voter suppression targets likely democratic voters), that's another 3 million net for hillary.

that's a 6 million popular vote margin and a clear electoral vote win.

never mind how things could have played out if the media had been even remotely objective....

Thank you for voicing what's been in the back of my mind for a long time. Let's not fight among ourselves until all of the dis-enfranchised voters in my home state of NC are allowed to vote. The numbers here of those kicked off the roles dues to cross-check, due to fewer and fewer early-voting days, as well as soon-to-be-implemented voter ID laws, continues to be staggering! Any unverifiable electronic voting? Democrats don't stand a ghost chance in HELL!

And on a slightly different note, please tell me why election day isn't a national holiday?????

The Democrats are fighting back and the Democrats are making progress. It is a hard fight. In Texas the court found that the Texas voter id law as adopted with the intent to discriminate and the parties are briefing what the appropriate remedy should be. On July 10, a trial starts in San Antonio in the Texas redistricting case that could give the Democrats 3 to 7 more US Congressional seats and 10 or more state house seats.

The Democrats are also fighting redistricting on a nation wide basis https://democraticredistricting.com/ Attorney General Holder and President Obama are both personally working on this program

I helped train 200+ poll watcher in Harris County which helped negate the efforts to limit the effects of the ruling in the Texas voter id case. The court in that case issued a ruling allowing voters to vote using a Reasonable Impediment Declaration but the local election administrator attempted to gut this ruling with greeters who told voters that they needed photo id. The poll watchers reported back on this tactic and we got this practice stopped. Now, a lady who I trained as a poll watcher in 2012 is now in charge of voter registration. A person with Battleground Texas who I worked with is now working in the voter registrar office.

Things can change. It takes hard work

Texas will turn blue.

why Repubs get their voters through these "voter suppreession" gimmicks, but Democrats fail at the same.

Are Repubs better at recruiting, better at getting voters registrated, or better at getting a voter to show up on election day?

while we have to work like heck to get our voters to the polls.

The GOP has been using voter suppression tactics for a long time. The GOP has been engaged in voter suppression for a long time. Look up Project Eagle Eye and you will see that deceased CJ Rehnquist got his start in GOP politics as a member of a GOP goon squad in Arizona. In 1981, the GOP used a program called "Ballot Security Squad" to station goons at polling locations in New Jersey. The DNC sued and we have had a cease and desist order in place since 1982 that restricts GOP "ballot security" efforts. That Cease and Desist is in effect for a while longer unless extended.

The fight goes on. The only way to win is by actually participating in the fight. In 2014, the Texas Voter Id law resulted in the lowest turnout in decades. A couple of good Democrats sued and we are close to having that law struck down and Texas bailed in under Section 3 of the voting rights act

Secretaries of State are usually more often Republican. Don't forget that Katherine Harris - Secretary of State for Florida helped to hand the election to Bush and his brother helped. Ken Blackwell, Ohio Sec. of State helped Bush win in the next election. And who was that Gov. (maybe from Penn) who said that his main job to help the Repubs win the election. They tried to pass laws that required voters to have all kinds of IDs in order to vote. The poor and elderly have a hard time getting to the voter reg. places and coming up with $50-$60 to get the IDs. In addition in Democratic areas, they often don't have enough voting machines and crappy equipment. AND they get away with it, despite the Dems starting to sue. And since the Dems are in charge of the state houses, the Reps gerrymander the states. The Dems are starting to sue about this too but they are not always successful.
