My best bet: Facing Impeachment or Resignation, Trump will declare a "medical condition" that will

allow him to bow out of the presidency.

Weak as that sounds, he's shameless enough to do just that.

I hope he rots in prison soon after.

As long as they get their RW SC nominees.

Trump said as much during the campaign.

“Even if people don’t like me, they have to vote for me. They have no choice,” Trump said, for example, on August 2 in Virginia. “Even if you can’t stand Donald Trump, you think Donald Trump is the worst, you’re going to vote for me. You know why? Justices of the Supreme Court.”

I personally know several Republicans that didn't like Trump, but hated the idea of Clinton appointing somebody to the SC more than they hated Trump... so, they held their noses and voted Trump. Too bad Democrats didn't make the same argument for Clinton.

They fear 45's base and they will do nothing to upset or disturb that base. 45 could confess to treason and other high crimes yet Ryan and McConnell will look the other way.

The only ways 45 leaves office are: (1) being jailed; (2) resigning; (3) losing re-election in 2020; or (4) suffering a catastrophic personal health event.

freshman senator Lowell Weicker (R) from Connecticut was pretty liberal and also made a name for himself with his tough questioning of the Nixon administration during the Watergate hearings.

He later became an independent when he ran for Governor of Connecticut. Lieberman beat him in 1988 by running to Weicker's right.

one who's of the conviction he's going to quit, just haven't been able to figure the rationale he'd use that seems right...something close to what someone said upstream about him just quitting out of frustration, but needing a good cover that maintains his illusion of superiority. Saying the system is biased against him would be a logical narcissistic response to the legal troubles looming for him, and saying he can do more good for the country as a private citizen is the perfect "out". I have been saying he won't last six months, I just couldn't figure out his "out". This excuse sounds right. I've got til July 20th, LOL!

he won't be impeached, congressional Republicans would rather destroy the nation as it was than impeach him for clear instances of, as they say, "high crimes and misdemeanors"
he won't be forced out of office, for similar reasons
he won't quit for medical reasons
and i don't see him losing in 2020: he won in 2016 with the predatory 2005 video getting plenty of coverage; he can win again by distorting his record, holding massive brownshirt rallies, and claiming only he has the necessary experience to guide us through the numerous crises of his own creation. don't underestimate Emperor Tangerine, he has a plenty of forces working in his favor and fanatical support from the lunatic wing of the GOP.

To the degree that Republicans (who, to date, have either enthusiastically supported 45's lunatic behavior, or brushed it off as a distraction, fake news, etc. Worst are the ones who have stood by in silence, with their utter resolve to ignore the corrosive, my-team v. your team partisan politics.

Question is, just where is the final, absolute line that #45 might cross and then start to actually lose some financial backers? I don't see him losing many people from his base.

I'm guessing they can prop him up for a few years. Afraid we're looking at the 2020 election to throw off the GOP yoke.

evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors, the retrumplicans will have to get on board with impeachment. If that kind of evidence were presented, the longer they did nothing about it, marches would escalate to riots, would escalate to violence. They might try for a bit to just let him continue on, but I don't think it would last long. I mean, I would hope, fer Chrissakes, that we the citizenry, would react vehemently enough that they'd be forced to impeach - if sending a delegation imploring him to resign didn't work.

Remember what Churchill said, "You can always count on the Americans to do the right thing, after they have exhausted all the other possibilities."

Because that is the routine from Andrews AFB. Apparently there was a change of plans. (Guess he was too grumpy to ask ahead of time)

I worked in nursing homes and my mom had a mild dementia. I noticed how he responded to the redirection. He quickly responded with "Got it" and went promptly to the limo.

When you try to re-orient someone with dementia it doesn't go smoothly. They don't respond quickly. Often you have to repeat commands.

My mom had mild dementia. Trying to correct her often resulted in blank stares and delayed reactions. I often saw that blank stare with Reagan.

the problem is, he's had very little success. It's also likely why congress is wary to pass these poison pill bills. Congress wants these bill tagged as Trump bills hoping when the toxic effect are felt he will get tagged for it, but they have to know if these all pass he will then leave and thus they will be holding the bag come 2018 or 2020 and he'll be long gone back to private citizen twitter raver.
