- Idiocracy: President Camacho assembles a crack-team of the smartest available people to solve the country's problems.
- Trump's America: Career diplomats at the State Department and scientists at the EPA are getting fired. The White House no longer has staff responsible for clearing up scientific questions. President Trump refuses to listen to experts because he has "the best brains".
Wrestling:
- Idiocracy: President Camacho is a former Wrestler but quit the job when becoming President.
- Trump's America: President Trump tweeted about beating up an imaginary boogeyman in an imaginary wrestling-match.
Traditions:
- Idiocracy: The people and the government cling to old-fashioned traditions and figures of speech even though they have forgotten what they mean.
- Trump's America: Trump and the GOP are trampling any norms and traditions that get in the way of amassing more power. Trump-voters get outraged when somebody quotes the Declaration of Independence.
Transparency, Accountability and Civility:
- Idiocracy: President Camacho is throwing a house-party in the White House, everybody is invited, there's next to no security-measures and nothing goes wrong.
- Trump's America: President Trump refuses to publish any documents that might answer transparency-questions. No cameras or recorders are allowed at the White House press-briefings. The GOP has crafted a landmark-legislation behind closed doors, with zero outsider-input, and originally planned to ram it through the Senate in less than a week.
Environment:
- Idiocracy: Landfills are veritable mountains of garbage.
- Trump's America: President Trump is cutting environmental protections wherever he can and as fast as he can.
Feminism:
- Idiocracy: Women and men are considered perfectly equal throughout the movie. Despite the cultural and educational degradation not one sexist remark.
- Trump's America: Why should men pay for a woman's health-insurance? Abortion is murder! Let's close down Planned Parenthood! Women are trying to enslave men! Women don't need work-place protections for pregnancy! If a billionaire's little princess gets treated with respect, that means that all of society is treating women with respect!
Food-porn:
- Idiocracy: Food-porn.
- Trump's America: Food-porn.
