(23,102 posts)36% of Americans are idiots. Heck, they don't even recognize the Declaration of Independence, WTF is up with that? My daughter and son memorized this when they were in elementary school and they are now adults, yet these asses don't even recognize it? Shockingly, a large number of the people speaking lines are rw'ers, and yet these trumpists still think NPR is trying to start a revolution. OMG, there is no hope for these total ignoramuses.

(12,448 posts)I can't recite the whole thing now, but I certainly can recognize it. This is what happens when there are no civics classes in elementary and high schools.

(2,034 posts)They couldn't imagine that a major party would collude with foreign powers to win, and that the press would be so neutered and defamed that the people would let them do it. If so, we would have a constitutional process to nullify the past election, instead of making do with potus pence.

(45,447 posts)Reporters have been reading this out each July 4th for 29 years. http://www.npr.org/2017/07/04/534096579/a-july-4th-tradition-the-declaration-of-independence-read-aloud
I love how Republicans desperately need to convince us that we're unpatriotic and that they are the patriotic ones because of guns and war or something. I love the fact that they are bothered by the declaration of independence. They feel threatened by this. Unfortunately NPR is going to get Trumped. They GOP will try to cut their funding.

(4,558 posts)that had this been 1776, most of them would have likely been Torres (loyalists) to the crown, and we'd have been the ones call patriots and revolutionaries.
They support the tyrant. Rump displays all 14 of the 14 long established characteristics of a Fascist.
They attack protestors to the establishment.. Can anyone say Boston Tea Party?
They are the ones that want to shamelessly skew elections through gerrymandering, and now even collusion with a foreign power for the purpose of setting tax policies that benefits only the most benefitted of society.. taxation without Representation.
Perhaps the Republican party should consider a name change to the Torres Party?

(32,641 posts)I get you Laxman, but the Constitution starts out with "We the people" in large letters on top.
The Declaration of Independence begins with "When in the course of human events..."
