your lives, it's going to be uglier than we have imagined - but it is nigh! This week's biz with the joe and mika tweets is the beginning of the final mental unraveling, I think. He'll be drooling and short-circuited and twitching and frothing at the mouth and being dragged away in a strait jacket very soon.

There must be talk among themselves about it. The dude is stone cold mentally ill. I hope they are hiding the nuclear football from him.
Man, all the "insider" books that come out after this bullshit administration collapses is going to be epic. I predict at one point 9 out of 10 books on the NYT bestseller list will be about "behind the scenes in Trump's White House".

(67,112 posts)break out. They don't play games with fools like Trump, and Trump is so far out of any league he doesn't know up from down. I wonder if he ever bothers with security briefings anymore. His behavior is like some blowhard at the end of the bar after 10 drinks or so. As someone said, there are so many things going on in the world and this ass has pissed off just about everyone he comes in contact with.

(12,171 posts)They want war so they can get away with repression of political enemies, further scapegoating of immigrants, and required adulation of Dear Leader.
Every day I'm scared to look at the news for fear they're already getting their war on.
I'm not religious, but...Heaven help us.

(13,390 posts)Maybe I should send this to my friend who recently had a stroke? Ableism at this site constantly reveals that the hate and bigotry that I once thought was most prevalent on the right thrives where I least expected it.
pnwest
(3,266 posts)stroke was not caused by the cognitive dissonance experienced when trying to justify the competing realities trump is trying to balance, and I'm sure your friend was not dragged away in a straight jacket. I'm sure your friend did not bring about his/her own stroke by being a fucked-up individual.
I make NO apologies for my desire to see the presinut reap what he has sown in the fashion of completely losing his shit. I am sorry if the image I created with my words was raw for you personally, but it has nothing to do with ableism, and it was not an attack on people who've had a stroke. I was talking about a nervous breakdown - and it couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.
loyalsister
(13,390 posts)Every justification or ridicule that reinforces that sense of superiority is a statement that disabled people are inferior. It is ableist bigotry. It is hate. It is directed towards me, many of my friends, and most likely your own family, friends, and future self.

(9,581 posts)Don't create a problem where there isn't one. Your post is really a stretch.
loyalsister
(13,390 posts)and therefore ableist ridicule?
Ms. Toad
(34,117 posts)And when you call people on it, the response is to insist that all's fair against Trump - and to insist that using disabilities or obesity as a club to bludgeon Trump doesn't also hurt others who are living with disabilties or obesity.
Thank you for speaking up (even though it is clearly futile).
loyalsister
(13,390 posts)I think fat shaming is a facet of ableism, as it is also based on bodily superiority. I have noticed that LGBT people are still open targets here as well.
Ms. Toad
(34,117 posts)I had a long list of posts in an ATA thread using being gay as an insult that were left standing by juries in about a 1-week period. I asked that the juries be overruled - as we were promised would happen if the juries clearly got it wrong. No response at all - which, of course, reinforces what any LGBT individual has always known - that kind of bigoted behavior is just fine here.

(30,817 posts)People need to toughen up a little.
After my then-teenage daughter had to spend a week in a psych ward, we made so many jokes about it together, thinking up all the euphemisms for mental illness (bats in the belfry, etc), and laughed uproariously. It was a wonderfully healthy way to react.
If I had a stroke someday and frothed at the mouth, I would likely make fun of myself afterward (if I was capable of doing so), just because you have to find humor and lightheartedness whenever you can.
loyalsister
(13,390 posts)You making fun of yourself for your own benefit and entertainment may be funny to you. I don't find it funny when other people use me as an example to insult someone. It's hateful to minimize the sense of intrusion and feeling of disregard that comes with these comments.

(15,805 posts)everything they want. How insane is that! He really thinks that will make Putin love him and imagines that he can go skipping merrily down the garden path, arm in arm with the former KGB agent and there won't be a price to be paid.
