It amazes me how people can be so determined to cling to their misinterpretation of something. Give it a rest. We get it. You hate anybody who thinks differently than you do. And obviously nobody can change. Hence why the nazi party is still in charge in Germany. Hence why Japan is still at war with us and we're still at war with England.

If you think they are worthy of empathy there is nothing I can do to disabuse you of that notion.

There was a story on here the other day about a so-called democrat that voted for Dump and is now scared shitless that he and his party are going to kill her health care.

So we should feel sorry for her right?

At the end of the story it was pointed out that this lady STILL SUPPORTS Dump!!!!!!

That wasn't the point of my thread.

Trump supporters are aware of all the wrong he does and still support him. That's what makes them Deplorables.

The poster who trashed me cited modern Germany and Japan. The difference between modern Germans and Japanese and Deplorables is that they saw the error of their ways and changed them. The Deplorables haven't.

If a new election was held today I bet 90 plus percent of Trump voters would vote for him again.

Hate and tribalism and the big lie are powerful forces as Hitler and now Trump and the republican party know well.

After 6 months of Trump being Trump his supporters are still solid behind him - 80% of Republicans if I recall correctly.

Is this a continuation of the do we pursue Trumpsters or ignore them and focus on non-voters and independents kerfuffles?

Sure it is.

So what - This is DU, so saying "Give it a rest. We get it. You hate anybody who thinks differently than you do." Is not a stinging rebuke when the "anybody who thinks differently than you do." people in question are fucking Trumpsters.

By now, anyone who isn't a lost cause dead end racist piece of shit would have bailed.

The deplorables are not -EVER- going to come over to our side, unless we distort ourselves so much that we become them.

Chasing after them - trying to appeal to them is a fools errand.

It won't work and beyond that, why the fuck would we slap real Democrats and non-racist independent voters in the face by trying to attract anyone who is not immediately repulsed by what the Republican party is now?

Also, it's unclear what redeeming qualities anyone can find in the deplorable Trump voters (and/or the Stein voters) or what makes them worthy of being defended and protected. What exactly is being "misinterpreted"?

Well, that's unnecessary. There's your "straw-man" right there! What purpose does it serve for anyone to attack the OP in that manner. I saw no "hate" coming from the OP. Can you explain why someone's unwillingness to hug deplorables is the same thing as irrational hatred?

Personally speaking, I myself do not feel the need to hug or forgive or console them. I feel no sympathy for whatever plight that Trump/Stein voters may soon find themselves in as a result of their own votes. How does that equate to actual "hate"?

Why do you presume someone feels "hate" instead of any other equally logical and reasonable emotional responses?

Unless you're just exaggerating and being over-dramatic to make some sort of point. Is that what you're doing? If so, what exactly IS your point? I'm just not seeing it.
