Victorian Slum House Series on PBS

http://www.pbs.org/video/3000180983/

If you get some time, please watch this series. Discussing and showing how in East London, England the poor lived and with no safety net. Families of today attempt to go back in time and live like East Londoners, the lowest of the wage earners. Really awful! Something GOPers want to go back to......

But than many GOPers feel entitled just as the top 10% wealthy Londoners, during the Victorian age!

Very, very interesting!!!

Was reminded how comfortable, modern people take things for granted, participating in those Victorian roles. I think some of them learned some real compassion & empathy. Highly recommend!

The word that best describes it is "harrowing."

Follow it up by watching the series on the workhouse. That's what people in the teeming slums were most afraid of.

Or are echos of Victorian times. I thought I knew history but this series made it much more real an understandable.

sort of comes in toward the end of this, but def shows the desperate poverty that people lived in. there was an episode about a brother and sister who had survived the workhouse, and were almost totally broken.
