Families of today attempt to go back in time and live like East Londoners, the lowest of the wage earners. Really awful! Something GOPers want to go back to......
But than many GOPers feel entitled just as the top 10% wealthy Londoners, during the Victorian age!

(1,865 posts)Was reminded how comfortable, modern people take things for granted, participating in those Victorian roles. I think some of them learned some real compassion & empathy. Highly recommend!

Follow it up by watching the series on the workhouse. That's what people in the teeming slums were most afraid of.

(21,597 posts)Or are echos of Victorian times. I thought I knew history but this series made it much more real an understandable.

(70,265 posts)sort of comes in toward the end of this, but def shows the desperate poverty that people lived in. there was an episode about a brother and sister who had survived the workhouse, and were almost totally broken.
