1. Wow - Glad I did/wish I didn't see that. No words.

well, just a few words. I guess it's good to know what we are up against...but it is so, so depressing.

8. You can't. You have to mock them and marginalize them to make them go away.

Forty years ago, Republicans and Democrats alike mocked the Birchers knowing them for the freaks that they are. A Bircher couldn't get elected dog-catcher in a neighborhood populated by Ayn Rand, Victoria Jackson, the Koch Brothers, and the Moral Majority. It was when the mocking stopped that the Birchers and other crazies like them started to infiltrate the office of dog-catcher, the school boards, and the state legislatures. Talk radio kicked it all into high gear, and once the Fairness Doctrine was tossed aside, the sky was the limit to seize the federal levers of power and construct right-wing media outlets with a built-in audience of stupid and cruel people. Reason and kindness are not in the DNA of these people, but they are all driven by fear. Therefore, they have to be called out and suffer brutal humiliation to make them scared shitless to even think about doing something politically ever again.

those "normal" Republicans stand up. Just Democrats alone won't be able to do it. How that happens, well maybe things need to get a whole lot worse first. Even worse than it is now.

There is an accelerating anti-media theme among one block after another. I see it on every message board I frequent. The right wingers toss in anti-media obsession regardless of topic. They emphasize it every 5 or 6 posts or so like they're trying to memorize dialog and then pat themselves on the back as they agree with each other.

It absolutely should be mocked, ruthlessly mocked. So much ammo and logic. I do it on those sites and they clearly don't like it, but they merely regroup and start backslapping even more than normal.
