Romney Donor Says ‘Lower Income’ People ‘Don’t Understand What’s Going On’

snip

The woman, who wouldn’t reveal her name, said the following:

I don’t think the common person is getting it…my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies — everybody who’s got the right to vote — they don’t understand what’s going on. I just think if you’re lower income — one, you’re not as educated, two, they don’t understand how it works, they don’t understand how the systems work, they don’t understand the impact.

The recommended contribution for the event she was attending was $25,000.

she doesn't CARE how the system works ...to destroy people's lives, the environment and our culture

true... many people don't understand how the "system" works but just as many people (like her) don't understand what it means to be human and a contributing part of a healthy society

And here's my Revlon email: Love your products. Hate your Hamptons politics. Just came to the site for a list of what to avoid in future. That fundraiser was disgusting. Clearly your profits are excessive.

The System works (or does not work) entirely differently for the poor. You ought to come on down some time and try it. Nothing is ever simple. Try living on food stamps for a while (not just a day or a week). Try finding a Doctor who will accept your Medicaid. Try getting around to the various offices you have to visit without a car or public transportation. Or visit some of those offices that don't really want you around disturbing them. Be number 50 on a list for housing assistance for a year. Do you really understand what is going on?

All it takes is hard work and dedication, and you too can become wealthy. You see, all you gotta do is pull yourself up by your bootstraps - without any help from government, mind you - and you'll become part of the 1%.

and she mentioned the possibility of the woman being some liberal plant. That sounds feasible because what the lady said did sound kind of farfetched...like she said the "common person" doesn't get it, and the stuff about low-income folks being less educated. It just sounds like some stuff you're more likely to hear on TV or some parody than in real life.

I find it rather ironic that these women who sell themselves for chance to snag a millionaire have the audacity to comment on people who are hard-working and have more intelligence and integrity than these women could ever imagine.

I have come across these women - they are false - from their fake hair to their fake toes and definitely fake thoughts - they do and say whatever they think their men want to hear........... until the next bimbo model comes along and takes their meal ticket away. Give me common any day over these phonies.

she is very educated or has the ability to finish a complete thought.

Can someone translate that gibberish to me?

What are we "not getting"?

Just what is "going on"?

What is the "it" of "how it works?

Not AS educated as whom? Someone who can't articulate one clear, coherent thought that isn't gibberish?

is that through the Bush* tax cuts, which BTW are still in place, you, the 1% have gotten to keep somewhere between $3.0 and $3.5 Trillion Dollars that otherwise would have been tax revenue. Some of us also understand that this is 4 times as much money as the "stimulus" package passed under President Obama.

What we don't perhaps understand is: if leaving all that money in your hands was going to fix the economy, where are the jobs?

(...some of us also understand that the real answer is China and India)
