Lived in the Southwest for fifteen years,we have had a two degree increase in temps during the Summer months since 2000.

(10,159 posts)I'd agree with your post. However, we're one big interconnected world, and Arizona's attempts to air-condition the outdoors (misters? In a desert?) ultimately affect all of us.

I wouldn't buy real estate there.

(12,637 posts)(I know- not everyone on DU is into painting an entire state of 5-6 million people with the same brush).
And - by the way most of us Arizonians moved here purposefully from other states and think we live in a climatological and disaster-free paradise compared to most of the United States. Anyone who doesn't think so just moves on, leaving the rest of us with happy grins, especially those of us who don't have to go out to work any more.

(53,061 posts)until we lost the seat Giffords had AZ had 6 Dem 5 Rep Congresspeople, now it's 5 /6.
State offices/legislature are heavily Republican because Dems have poor off year voting.
NC, Virginia, Florida and Arizona all have the same demographic - older native residents heavily Republican. Newer and younger residents are heavily Democratic
