New York mother poisons children to punish boyfriend

“You got what you wanted. Me and the kids are in a better place now,” Lissette Bamenga allegedly wrote in a suicide note.

The 29-year-old Bronx mother was in a jealous rage over her belief that her boyfriend was cheating on her and got another woman pregnant. In retaliation, the NY Post reports that she sealed off her apartment windows with plastic and turned up the gas from her stove to poison the children. She also is accused of giving her children juice laced with de-icer. Bamenga then slashed her wrists in an apparent suicide attempt.

Officers responding to a call about the gas leak discovered 5-year-old Trevor Noel, Jr., 4-month-old Lillian Noel, and their mother unconscious. According to the New York Times, Trevor Noel, Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene and Lillian Noel was later pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center. Bamenga is in stable condition with her wounds not being deep enough to be fatal.

Bamenga’s boyfriend, Trevor Noel, 31, is a New York City police officer and was just returning from the night shift when he arrived on the scene of the tragedy. Although the pair isn’t married, Noel still considers Bamenga his wife.
