Right-wing radio has produced an entire population of slathering, racist idiots

It's almost to the point where you can't discuss anything on an open internet forum without some right-wing idiot turning it into an anti-Obama rant. Sure, they hated Clinton with a passion. But I don't recall ever hearing anybody question Clinton's religion, or demanding to see his original birth certificate.

Right-wing radio seems to have whipped up the "tea-party" types into an unprecedented frenzy. These people seem to be preoccupied 24/7 about "Obamacare", Obama's birth certificate, Keynesian economics, and various conspiracy theories. All of which is fueled day in and day out by the likes of Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck, Savage, Boortz, etc. Ask any teabagger to explain Keynesian economics and you'll likely get a blank stare, more than likely followed by some comment about socialism or communism. The only reason they even know the word "Keynesian" is because Hannity throws it around during his anti-Obama rants.

Right-wingers have always been a special breed - you would have to, in order to believe in "trickle-down" economics. But the past several years they seem to have devolved down to a completely new level.

Many of these people were not even aware of current events or didn't care much. Too busy making a living or raising a family. They listen to the hate radio or faux news at work or a family's home and now they have someone to blame for all of their woes because they actually believe this. Idle minds are molded very easily. I think these radio shows and faux news should be charged with treason.
They are very similar the hate charged radio station in Rwanda during the genocide.

In other words, take what I consider to be a normal IQ would be 150+. I know that's not what IQ is, but work with me here, as most of my family are.

Put two of these people together and as combined efforts reduce the need for mental capacity, lowering it to 75. At a certain point, all the finer ideas reduce to the physical, like teams and symbols. They wear black, we wear blue, they are stupid and we are too.

Put three individuals at work on something in the hot sun and cut the IQ to 50. Put ten and you are looking a group that is literally drooling at the mouth and reacting to anything of interest, like a pack of dogs looking for someone to chew on.

This is how I see the masses listening to Rush, etc. They always create the programs to appear that an army of Dittoheads have all agree with Rush's addle pated, twisted logic. So they surrender and give up thinking, because, see, everyone else says it's the right thing to do.

Was mankind destined to be turned into nothing more than slobbering animals and turning on each other?

I don't know, but it disgusts me and makes we suspect TPTB know us much better than we know ourselves.

After they get their fix, they'll be back to puke the next day's meme. It's pretty consistent on RW boards. They'd post right after they had listened to the swill and got their guts in a uproar, and could never provide links to their 'facts,' accusations and claims.

If pressed, they'd scream 'It's common knowledge!" That's the Rush, O'Reilly, Beck method, 'You know I'm right and this is what everyone thinks.. ' except the evil ones (insert category of human being that should be eliminated here).

Because they didn't have any links, at least not until they go full Borg and can download those audio files in their brains to the net. And by that time, their echolalia will kick in again and you'll know the next time they heard something.

I've had to try to talk to people in RL who were so upset and screaming in outrage about whatever Rush, Hannity, Beck or some other shill had to say and nothing works. You either agree with them, grunting and barking the same tune, or they start name calling.

They don't want to come off of that adrenaline high and high fiving their common meme. Try to find common ground or get between them and their drug of choice and they'll kill you. Yeah, they don't call it 'programs' and 'programming' for nothing. Garbage in, garbage out.

Day in the Life of Joe Middle-Class Republican
MONDAY, 10 OCTOBER 2011 16:23
Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised.

All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didn’t think he should loose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

Its noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his life-time.

Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dads; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. The house didn’t have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification. (Those rural Republican’s would still be sitting in the dark)

He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home.

He turns on a radio talk show, the host’s keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. (He doesn’t tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day) Joe agrees, “We don’t need those big government liberals ruining our lives; after all, I’m a self made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have”.

Jul 2012

You mentioned he WAS a Union Teamster and Operating Engineer. Does that mean he no longer is working?

If not, let me guess, in descending order of likelihood:

1) He quit his union job because he could no longer reconcile the evils of union pay and union benefits and working jobs provided by government spending with his sincere desire to live in the freedom find world of smaller government and no unions;

2) He was layed off when the housing/construction industry tanked, which he blames on Frank and Dodd ... and now he can't find a decent got because them mexicans get all the jobs;

3) He spouted off to the boss once too often ... and despite what rush and beck say, the 1st Amendment does not apply in the workplace.

We were talking about the life of a raccoon, and said that the male raccoon has several mates. She said "like a MUSLIM!" No, I said "more like a Mormon." We were talking about her yard sale, and she had to mention that a "muslim woman bought her pots and pans." Who cares??? We talked about Halloween and she was able to make the comment "at least dressing as a witch is better than being a secret muslim!" (wtf?) EVery convo, she finds a way to insert Muslims, Kenya, drones, re-education camps, and/or the coming economic collapse due to Obama. She has hated him from day one, though. They hated him before he was elected, and it just gets worse.

Normal people are starting to avoid even their local news station comment boards because of the "Obama's fault" and "anyone with an hispanic surname is illegal," and all that comes with it.

Their corporate masters at Fox have done a darn good job of completely brainwashing them. I can tell this woman an absolute, cannot deny FACT about something (like when the Recession happened,) and she says nope. And if you mention the resource to verify things like how we've added jobs every month under Obama, after stemming the tide of losses under Bush, she says that "they're lying." She says that CNN is the 'left wing media." And MSBC are socialists. She and her husband, and their ignorant friends believe this stuff. They have talk radio on 24/7 (she sleeps with headphones on to listen at night when she sleeps. no lie.) and they have just built a ham radio tower for when President Obama declares martial law. She also can't resist making comments about the one hispanic family in the neighborhood, and others she comes in contact with.

It just amazes me. But I have to say that I have yet to meet a truly intelligent person that believes that stuff. People I know from high school who have gone to the dark side of the brainwashed, are all the most ignorant and gullible people I know. Many are women who married angry men who blame everyone else for their troubles in life.

55. It is a method that goes back to the Middle Ages and maybe before
Tue Jul 10, 2012, 01:32 PM
Jul 2012

Right-wing style propaganda works best when there are a lot of miserable and confused but uninformed people, people who can't make ends meet, who have seen their everyday lives deteriorate. They are angry. But they're too uninformed or stupid to understand why their lives are so miserable.

Enter right-wing propaganda.

In the Middle Ages, it worked like this: The peasants would start grumbling about having to work like dogs exclusively for the benefit of their lord and perhaps start wondering about armed rebellion. The lords would get wind of this and start scapegoating.

"So your crops failed and half your children died! You know whose fault it is? It's God's punishment because you let Jews live in the area! Pogrom time!"

or, "It's the witches who have put curses on you! Get the witches!"

or "It's because we have allowed the Muslims to occupy the holy city of Jerusalem! Come on a Crusade!" (which would incidentally get rid of a lot of the feistiest troublemakers as they marched off to the Middle East.)

So the peasants would let off a lot of steam killing whichever scapegoat the lords had chosen for them. Of course, they were still miserable afterwards.

It's the same today. Right-wing media cleverly deflect people's anger away from the real culprits (the 1%) and toward people the audience is inclined to dislike anyway, especially racial minorities.

To the Democrats' everlasting shame, they allowed right-wing media to flourish without a response for a good ten years before any left-side figures responded. The MSM were perfectly fine with that, too. It was only after Michael Moore and Al Franken began responding that the MSM began tut-tutting against "the coarsening of public discourse" and acting as if both sides were equally to blame.

Here's why the Democrats' delay in responding was so disastrous: Josef Goebbels was evil but an evil genius of propaganda. He understood that uninformed people would believe anything, no matter how stupid, if they heard spoken often enough and with conviction, especially from a variety of sources. (He was at work in a time and place that had a high rate of basic literacy but the vast majority of the population quit school and went to work at age 14, so intellectually, they were in middle school.) Since the Nazis controlled radio, newspapers, and movies, the only media that existed then, required the schools to teach Nazi ideology, and set up summer youth camps where brainwashing was mixed with swimming and hiking, they created a total information environment for the German people.

OK, so in the 10 years between the rise of the right-wing media (AM radio, the Moonie Times, the right-wing infiltration of the formerly non-political fundamentalist churches) and Michael Moore's and Al Franken's first efforts, the frustrated working class people who had seen their living standards stagnate or fall had someone telling them that it was all the fault of the "liberals." (This was the point at which the Dems should have started a campaign, "Liberal and proud.&quot Furthermore, working class men in particular, who could no longer count on having a wife who had a home-cooked meal and a clean house ready for them at the end of the day, were taught to blame "feminazis," even though most of their families could not have survived without the wife's income.

During the very time that the right wing media were ascendant, the Dems pretty much ignored working class and rural economic concerns. For example, not signing NAFTA and all those most-favored-nation treaties with Third World countries would have been a popular move on both the right and the left. But the mainstream Dems "the realists," "the moderates," drank the "free" trade Kool-Aid and did nothing as job after job was outsourced to the Third World, leaving entire communities devastated. They didn't make a peep during the Reagan administration as the double whammy of high interest rates and low commodity prices caused thousands of proud family farmers to lose land that had been in their families for generations. (This was in spite of controlling the House. They didn't even make a *gesture.*)
