How much damage a single, one lone bullet, can do.

(35,454 posts)but willful ignorance. These lawmakers have been backing the NRA for decades, ignoring the pleas of people whose lives have been destroyed/damaged by bullets. Now it has come to them. One of their members was shot in the hip which at a first think wouldn't sound life threatening. But then you learn that one bullet it broke bones, entered his pelvis and did damage to some of his organs.
Hopefully, this will be a wake-up call for some of those who were planning on voting to remove restrictions from silencers yesterday.

(11,996 posts)agreed - they are pretty ignorant. And especially if they are carrying them (though this was a rifle round)
Silencers isn't nearly as important an issue as mag capacity etc. They just don't make that much of a difference in real life.
ETA: the lesson they learned yesterday is there may always a threat. As seen last evening, more of em will promote carrying then before.
But, ironically, that was the gun related issue up for a vote yesterday, which was then canceled.

(18,585 posts)A rifle suppressor brings the sound from ~160db down to ~120db. Still louder than a rock concert (110db). Nobody would miss a 120db shot.

No, it was not right, and it was, in fact, horrific. Violence is not the answer and I do not condone it.
But it's been okay with these jerks when it has happened to other people. They do not possess empathy for others and only understand things when those things directly impact them personally. That is a sad commentary when it is their job to represent their constituents.

Not one of them had a shred of sympathy for the families of the Sandy Hook victims or for Gabby Giffords. Now they want unity.

(15,223 posts)Exactly! They want the hate to stop, but they've sure been enjoying spewing the hate for the last several decades.

Ignorant white wingers will let them know that they want reciprocity so they can travel across the country with their beloved AR15 in the trunk and a pistol or two strapped to their body. That's what or Congresspeople will remember.
