(8,204 posts)I have to say, I hope people don't vote for mine (kittens). I was just so surprised to find kittens poking their heads out from under my porch, and they were so cute that I had to share the photo. But I'm not a photographer like the other folks are.
Kittens and the feral mom are in my bathroom now, and all the kittens have adopters. Fingers crossed I'll be able to fool the mom a second time with the have-a-heart trap so I can get her to the vet to get spayed.
But the other photographers know their craft. I just happened to come across an adorable moment when I had my cell phone handy.

(31,401 posts)with whatever camera you have available, definitely qualifies you to call yourself a photographer, in my book!
It's a great shot!

(8,204 posts)I was motivated to take a good shot because I knew it would help me find adopters.

(34,115 posts)not because of the adorable kittens but because you caught and composed a very nice shot. It is a pleasing picture kittens or not! Nicely done.

(8,554 posts)has a lot to do with why your entry holds its own amongst more "professional" looking photos (at least, that's what I think). Those cautious little paws lined up on the porch foundation, the squinting, curious eyes (perhaps seeing the light of day for the very first time), and the delightful greeting you've given to finding such precious critters all add up to a perfect work of art. So please don't sell yourself short...your pic is a wonderful representation of Spring and that's exactly what this contest is meant to be.
Kudos to you for caring about the little darlings and their mama!
