When 20 children and six adults were shot dead in Sandy Hook, where were the shaken up GOPeers?

Okay, I feel bad for the congressman who is now in critical condition.

Do his fellow GOPeers feel equally bad for the nameless shooting victims across America today? Make no mistake, there were a lot of them. As there are every day, all year long.

Today we got to see shaken lawmakers. Lawmakers who watch one of them get shot by a nut with a gun. An assault rifle, by most accounts I have heard, was the weapon used.

I hope they keep that terror they felt front and center next time Wayne LaPierre comes calling, looking for more support for some gun bill or another. I hope they keep that terror front and center when Wayne's bag man comes by with their stipend.

I hope they remember.

3. Sandy Hook Has Never Left My Thoughts
Wed Jun 14, 2017, 06:54 PM
Jun 2017

For whatever reason, I have never been able to shake the memory of what happened at Sandy Hook. I thought for sure after that horrific tragedy that something would finally be done about guns in this country.

If I recall, a week after New Town (Sandy Hook), a national poll was taken that asked if there should be a strengthening of the gun control laws in our country. A full 92% of respondents said YES. 92%! We never see that kind of support ever in this country.

But nothing happened....NOTHING!

I am convinced that if we didn't strengthen our gun control laws after Sandy Hook, they would never be strengthened.

Sad.

On Edit: If 92% of the American people want to see something done, and nothing is done....Then we know that there is something seriously wrong with this country.

Unlike America, the UK done something about it. I remember my dad had an air pistol that looked like a handgun. After Dunblane, he turned it in, just to be safe... handguns got banned because of this mass school shooting. There have not been many mass shootings in the UK since then. This ban on guns is a good thing for the UK. Remember recently there were a few people who went on the rampage with knives and a vehicle? Just imagine if they had guns.

Now America has a gun culture, and it's in the Constitution that one can have a gun. While I don't advocate for a revocation of the 2nd amendment, I do advocate for sensible gun laws that are enforced. Sadly, Congress can't fight its way out a wet paper bag when it comes to gun legislation.

They forget they are the representatives of the people, and have made themselves into a tribe of "leaders" of people.
The average citizen doesn't' mean any more to them than the kid at the window of a drive-in - unless they can get something from them.
So, it's obviously far more important to them if one of them gets attacked (well, unless it's a Democrat, because they have it coming), than it is that a guy starts ranting on a trolley and stabs people who try to calm him down, or someone gets unhappy at work and decides to take family members or co-workers down with him or her.

very sad , in case anyone is offended.

I'm unhappy when anyone gets assaulted or murdered; be it a near-homeless kid wandering the streets late at night, an estranged girlfriend or unsuspecting co-worker, or a congressman out practicing for a charity softball game.

There were many republicans that openly mocked the women and the three heros that stood in harms way to protect them. Now there incident is the big crisis we should care about?!?
As I have already said, I feel for those injured and sincerely hope they recover but I know, as a liberal, that they do not feel the same way about me and have years of evidence to support it.

I wonder if the NRA will be sending Mr. Congressman a "get well" bouquet... you know the one with the spent shell casings wired in to compliment the carnations and other floral accouterments?

The card should be understated, and tasteful:
"Sorry you got shot.
Best wishes,
Wayne and your friends at the NRA.

"On April 25, 2013, Scalise made a floor speech where he used the Sandy Hook massacre of children to support the rights of gun owners. "I think they counted over 40 different laws that were broken by the Sandy Hook murderer," Scalise said. "Then somebody is going to tell you that one more law, which makes it harder for law-abiding citizens to get a gun, would have stopped him from doing that." The congressman doesn't mention that a law banning assault weapons would have actually slowed down Adam Lanza. And we're not even allowed to discuss banning handguns anymore, which would have done a great deal to stop the bloodshed."

It was the day I realized serious gun control will never happen. If you can go through that and not see a need for change, then nothing will ever change your mind.
