I'm just glad the shooter was white...

I see people are bickering here about the fact that the shooter being a Bernie supporter is going to hurt the left. Yes I have no doubt Trump will spin it that way. But Trump would spin absolutely anything whichever way he pleased. The shooter was a nut job end of sentence. True the left doesn't need that kind of attention right now...

But. Know who else doesn't need that kind of attention right now x1000000? Minorities. I'm just glad the random nut job happens to be white. Cause white people can certainly handle that addition to our stereotype, it's part of our privelege to be able to do so. Minorities don't have that luxury, especially right now.

It's a horrible path for one's mind to go down, but I think it's absolutely true. I remember in college when the Oklahoma City bombing happened, a friend of mine said, "Please, don't be Muslims." And that was back in the pre-9/11 days.

We should bring it up just as they would be attacking blm if it was a black person.

And trump himself was pushing the shit about how they were treated horribly by Debbie and cheated.

A large part of modern racism is the willful and twisted application of the "we are all equal" idea, a laudable concept, to groups that are not at all equal in order to shore up ones own privilege. I'm not blaming you in saying that, just my 2 cents. The races are not at all equal in terms of the privilege that is afforded them in modern society. White people have by FAR more assumed innocence than people of colour. Certainly we all ARE equal. But until we actually are treated as such, pretending that we are, is an act of racism in itself.

DUers constantly picking on others who can't spell, but it's getting pretty bad here.

Spelling and grammar are important. We can't cast stones at others when our own are so incapable of using the English language correctly.

Some posters lately seem barely literate.

You've done all you can to avoid responding. Despite your fine spelling, it's an intellectually dishonest and condescending response.

But the fact that many here can't read and write their own language astounds me.

I'm friends here with several for whom English is a second language, and they are more literate than people born here.

I truly think that's sad, and especially because so many like to pick on less than literate members of the right wing.

It just looks stupid when we try to be holier than thou in regards to dumb republicans, but then can't spell our insults correctly.

Hypocrisy is embarrassing.

They must have struck a nerve that you can't respond to anything they actually wrote, so you just drone on about their spelling for three posts now. What a waste of time.

Proper spelling has always alluded me. My overall level of discourse has tended to skew above average, but paradoxically spelling has alluded me. It's possible that I have a mild form of dyslexia, there are other indications that might be so. I have a similar issue in with mathematics where I have always enjoyed and excelled in more complex areas such as calculus, but struggled with some of the basics like arithmetic. Thanks to people like you who's hobby it is to point out such mistakes though my spelling has improved over the years.

But in the world we are in, making it seems essential. I am sometime on discussion boards when word of a killing incident hits the wire. Racist come out of the woodwork implying the killer has to be Black, Hispanic or Muslim.

Had it been a black or Islamic guy the other violent white gun nuts' trigger fingers would be a little itchier today, increasing the numbers of innocent minorities shot.

Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the white gun nuts will start shooting one another... Nah.

That's pretty much the long and the short of it for me.

Too many of these events, no matter what the background of the shooter is or what his motives are.
