The Military should be run like a business.

Now, before you try to figure out the pure illogic of that statement...

Why is it any different than saying it about any other part of the Government or public service?

And why don't the Repukes ever say that about the Military, when they say it about all the other segments?

when they say it about all the other segments?

Because their owners/masters have bribed and ordered them not to.

The reality is it seldom does. When you remove profit margins, inflated overhead costs, advertising budgets, and short term thinking, government does "business" far cheaper and more efficiently.

...working with the goal of spilling as much blood as humanly possible, although they often seem to (totally accidentally I'm SURE...) accomplish that goal rather often.

But more to the point, maybe we should be more like enterprising entrepreneurs and bring businesses together!

Can't we stand lending out specific, named, branded units fielding new TactiKewl gear kinna like a timeshare? "New Seal Team Six, sponsored by Johnson's Water Seal, each fielding new R&D firearms with modified anime-character grips featuring the Best of Scarlet Devil Mansion!, only $55 each/hour!" Think of the endorsements, the ENDORSEMENTS!

6. The military is fundamentally different than business.

Business operates on theories of personnel management - the workers are assets to be exploited. The military operates on the basis of leadership - soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are led, not managed.

We have proven of late what anyone with one eye and half-sense already knew - the government cannot be run as a business. The motivations are different. The highest virtue in business is profit - usually at the expense of others. Government depends on public service, i.e. service of others . The highest virtues in the military are honor and self-sacrifice.

Very different worlds.
