the 'elephant' replying "Oh, we lifted a finger all right..." had it's 'hand' showing a very clear middle finger extension, after all, that is the ONLY finger they have ever lifted for the President, imo.

When you mention a 'finger' in a context like this, that's pretty much the only one people think of.
