Donald Trump just held the weirdest Cabinet meeting ever

By Chris Cillizza,

...
But, that wasn't even close to the weirdest part of the Cabinet meeting!

Once Trump finished touting his administration's accomplishments, he turned to several of his newly-minted Cabinet secretaries like Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. Each of those Cabinet secretaries lavished praise on Trump, which he accepted without comment but with a broad smile.

At first, I thought Trump was just going to have the new members of the Cabinet spend a few minutes praising him. NOPE! It soon became clear that Trump planned to have every Cabinet member speak. And when I say "speak" what I really mean is "praise Trump for his accomplishments, his foresight, his just being awesome."

You think I am exaggerating. I am not. Here's what White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said about Trump: "We thank you for the opportunity and blessing to serve your agenda."

I mean, WHAT?!?

46. In North Korea territory now. Full CODE RED.
Mon Jun 12, 2017, 03:57 PM
Jun 2017

There is a common theme in all dictatorships (and most monarchies) regardless of ideology--incessant praise and adulation of the dictator. Sometimes this praise is demanded under threat of punishment. Many times it is volunteered.

In current times we see it in North Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Russia.

For the first time in my life we've now seen it in the United States.

When a sitting President has what is advertised as a Cabinet meeting where each Cabinet level offiicial is called on and encouraged to sing the beaming strongman's praises we have entered into a new, previously unknown territory.

The first sign that this was coming was a very strange press release from Trump's press secretary Hope Hicks that talked about his "magnetic" personality and how he "exudes positive energy".' This sounded more like a press release from Kim Jong-il's press secretary than one from anyone born in this country.

Now the right wing is floating the idea of Trump firing Robert Mueller. Trump is moving to cement his power.

We are staring into the abyss. If he does make his move we will tumble into it.

We need the Republicans to decide. Are they patriots? Or will they help Trump finish off what little remains of our Republic?

How quickly history pivots and answers the question of whether it could happen here.

They are acting like members of a cult. Remember when Republicans were claiming that Democrats had a Messiah complex with President Obama. Since the rise of Donald Trump the Republicans have proven they are the party with the Messiah complex. Who in the Democratic Party ever treated President Obama the way Republicans have treated Donald Trump.

He said no. I asked if he had ever heard leader in world history do this. "Yes", he said, "Stalin, Hitler."

My husband has always avidly read nonfiction about WWII, so I was waiting to hear him say that.

He's always voted for the R. Before we go into the polls, he has always told me to just vote for everyone who has an (R) behind their name.

But he surprised me! He voted for Clinton this time around. And he voted for our current governor (D). And he stopped telling me how to vote (which I never paid attention to).

and addicting to be so close to power that they are willing to act like toadies to a dictator of a totalitarian state? Or are they suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, like battered spouses who know they have to flatter Himself, or else? Seriously, how can you make your mouth utter those words and not feel cheaper than one of Trump's peeing Russian hookers?

I'm sure his ghost written autobiography (from prison) will tell us that Dear Leader does not answer to bowel movements like ordinary humans - in fact, he doesn’t defecate or urinate at all.

Just like his role model, Kim Jong-Il.

His tweets from the toilet notwithstanding....

Do you think he had to go rinse out his mouth after the meeting to remove the bad taste??

86. Here is an excerpt from a book describing a cabinet meeting presided over by Saddam Hussein.

From Saddam Hussein: A Political Biography (2007)
By Efraim Karsh, Inari Rautsi

Page 166:

Interestingly enough, these reshuffles were not accompanied by the customary manifestations of violence. None of the victims was jailed or executed, and many of them were compensated by handsome positions outside the government. The only exception was the ill-fated Minister of Health, Riyadh Ibrahim Hussein, who was executed in the summer of 1982. The government claimed that the Minister was executed for profiteering from distributing tainted medicine. But the popular view in Baghdad was that the Minister paid the ultimate price for saying the unsayable. During a cabinet meeting he reportedly suggested that Saddam Hussein step down temporarily in favor of Ahmad Hasan al-Bakr, in order to pave the way to a negotiated cease-fire. The Iraqi President, the story goes, showed no sign of irritation at this heretical idea. “Let us go to the other room and discuss this matter further,” he suggested. The minister agreed and the two left the room. A moment later, a shot was heard, and Hussein returned alone to the cabinet as though nothing had happened. The question of his resignation did not come up again.

vomit inspiring.

I've never before witnesses such an ass kissing in my entire life. Trump's lies about his "legislative accomplishments" was enough in itself to release the gag reflex, but the succession of puckering and kissing that bulbous, vast expanse of ass named "Trump" was the last straw. My lunch launched itself from it's gantry, and took off for the outer reaches of the solar system.

That was THE most weird and disgusting show of asskissery ever produced. I would have loved to see the email that induced this horrible display of douchebaggery. I wonder what they were ordered to do? No amount of money in the world could get me to kiss Trump's disgusting ass like that.

He is nothing but a self-promoter and pursuer of petty feuds. In a hand-picked crowd of employees, of course every meeting will be about how great Dear Leader is...and as his public image deteriorates, he's going to do this even harder.

And thank goodness for it. His failure to get down to business means his Administration accomplishes even less.
