General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have a current event issue...related to DU. "jury duty"
Every day, twice a day I am called to. "jury duty". It is ok, much of the time I serve, often..no. I ask only one question for discussion. Why am I called so often?..Why? Not that I mind, I don't. but..why?

(6,843 posts)I have no interest in serving on a jury if I cannot see the results. If you are a star member with no hides you get selected often.

(7,768 posts)I almost always serve also, but I'm wondering what's going on.
Is the jury pool really small right now or are people flagging posts more than usual? Don't know, but interesting.

(44,131 posts)There is a section about your eligibility for jury duty and a link that says "explain".
That link will take you to the criteria and your scores.

(4,512 posts)I only see actual violations about 10% of the time.
Probably going to stop "serving" if it keeps up.

(17,169 posts)And willing to serve on juries, IMO two or three times a day is pretty normal. I've noticed that the particular rule that is alerted on tends to vary in a general sort of way; for example recently most of the alerts seem to be for 'bashing democratic public figures'. I guess it depends on what is going on in the real world.

(26,602 posts)1) Fewer active DUers overall, but the ones still here are the ones who are more typically likely to use the alert system.
2) More people choosing not to participate in the system (jury willingness set to no).
3) More people made ineligible for juries by Admin decision.
4) We're just a lot nastier and prone to backbiting these days.
Probably a combination of more than one, really...

(706 posts)I've been on 2 real world juries in the 8 years I've been eligible. Neither of my parents have ever been asked and have been registered voters all their lives. Strange how that works.
