Ossoff Holds Edge Heading Into Final Week

June 12, 2017 By Taegan Goddard

FiveThirtyEight: “The race remains too close to call. Ossoff’s lead is slim, especially given the past accuracy of special House election polling, and we simply don’t know what to expect voter turnout to be in Round 2 compared with Round 1. Still, it’s significant that Ossoff has maintained and even widened his lead as voters make up their minds, because it suggests that undecided voters aren’t overwhelmingly Republican. It’s possible that Handel will pick up the vast majority of the remaining undecided voters in the campaign’s final days, but there’s no reason to expect that to happen.”

“Ossoff’s small lead in Round 2 shouldn’t be too surprising because it’s exactly what the polls before Round 1 indicated might happen.”

2. Beware the Alabamafication of America.

Our Speaker of the House, Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and the Governor - all Republicans - have been thrown out of office.

Is there a chance in hell Alabama swings to the left now? Hell, no!

Our neighbors in Georgia?

Same thing.

Excerpt from Washington Monthly, by D.R. Tucker:

If Jon Ossoff cannot take that seat away from the GOP (which has controlled it for 38 years), then no Republican member of the House or Senate anywhere in the country will be afraid of remaining deferential to Trump. A Handel win would mean that Republican voters are simply unwilling to switch sides under any circumstances, and will remain loyal to the GOP, no matter how corrupt or compromised the party is, simply to achieve partisan aims.

Special elections are almost always won by the political coalition that’s hungrier for a victory, and with one week to go, it remains something of an open question as to whether the desire among Ossoff’s supporters to break the right wing’s will is greater than the passion among Trump’s loyalists to protect their man at all costs. Handel is a truly pathetic candidate, but she is backed by folks who know that her victory would effectively kill the Resistance with one shot; defeating Ossoff and disappointing those who want Trump to be held accountable would terminate the Indivisible movement with extreme prejudice.

Everything is on the line here!

We need to stand unified behind Jon Ossoff!

And toss in not supporting a living wage....hopefully national news will focus on senate republicans trying to ram thru yet another failure of trumpcare. The more it's talked about screwing Americans the more help for Ossoff
