Will Donald fire Mueller?

Either through ordering Rosenstein to fire him or firing Rosenstein and having his replacement fire Mueller.

If Trump fires Mueller because he has the goods his presidency is over.

Only the A G could fire Mueller but since Sessions recused himself because of Russian ties that decision rests with Rosenstein so Rosenstein can fire him. If Rosenstein refuses to fire him Trump needs to find an AG who would.

before the goods are released just like with Nixon. He can fire him but he can't stop the investigation or destroy evidence. He would look guilty as hell and it would be the beginning of the end.

He will go kicking, screaming and suing. He won't resign and the GOP won't impeach him. All dems are calling for the GOP to sign their bill for an independent investigation committing in addition to congressional committees and a special prosecutor. That commission would be NON partisan, faster, fully staffed and resourced, public will know results, and it is thorough and complete.

Prosecution or the threat of it is when people start to sing.

Mueller was hired as a civil servant and has the protections associated with that role. Only his immediate superiors in the justice dept can fire him.

see Sessions resigning over that. Perhaps Rosenstein would, but am not so sure.

But, he would not want to do it until after the midterm elections, if possible. He will get pressure from Republican leaders not to do it until then, because if Democrats take over House, then they can file impeachment proceedings against him.

...the Repugnants are already setting the stage for it by beginning to bad-mouth Mueller after initially saying that he was a great, ethical, non-partisan pick.

These scumbag miscreants have absolutely no shame...

It would mean the end for sure, and very quickly. Nixon already set the precedent, not even the GOP could ignore a fuckup that bad.

He would only fire him on orders from the President. It would be Trump's decision.

Then you get a situation similar to Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre.
