by Josh Feldman | 2:56 pm, June 11th, 2017
Newt Gingrich, who has a new book out this week titled Understanding Trump, defended President Trump and slammed not just James Comey but special counsel Robert Mueller for not being as neutral as many are saying.
Chris Wallace opened the Fox News Sunday panel discussion with this tweet of Gingrichs from a few days ago:

Wallace asked, Whats your reasoning and wouldnt that really look like an obstruction of justice?
Gingrich recalled how Comey said he thought having his friend leak his memo would create the special counsel, who happens to be one of his closest friends. He also questioned who Muellers starting to hire, describing them as people who look like theyre setting up to go after Trump in a witch hunt.
Gingrich was the only one on the panel who felt this way about Mueller. Karl Rove even said, I think it would be a huge mistake to try and shut down the special counsel. This would leave the Trump administration, the Trump presidency, under a cloud until the very last day and make it an ongoing issue.

(10,952 posts)with experienced people. Trump has never learned that lesson.
For the Republicans to imply that Comey leaked his memo to get Mueller the job of Special Prosecutor is so misleading. All Comey wanted was a Special Prosecutor because he knew that was the only way to investigate Trump and his merry band of criminals because the Republicans would never do so. The American people lucked out that Mueller was the person chosen for the job.

You hate freedom and choice.
You want to return to the good old days.
In your sick mind the 1900's was the good old days.
White men have all the rights.
Women are nothing more than chattel.
Minorities are to be imprisoned for free labor.
Corporations have all the money.
Christians control the government.
Fuck you and your ilk.
Pool your money and buy an island.

(115,858 posts)ever to walk the face of the earth? The guy who threw a hissy fit and shut down the government because he felt snubbed, claiming he had to leave AF1 by the back door (he didn't). The guy who got in trouble for check kiting while in Congress (22 checks). The guy who was officially reprimanded by the House for violating ethics rules (claiming tax-exempt status for a college course run for political purposes; lying to the ethics panel). The guy who got pushed out of the Speaker position by his own party because he was seen as a liability. The serial adulterer who notified his first wife that he was divorcing her while she was in the hospital being treated for cancer so he could carry on with the woman he later married but then cheated on with his now-current wife. That guy. Newt Gingrich should be ashamed to show his face in public - he should be at someplace like a monastery, reflecting upon and repenting for his manifold sins and wickednesses - instead of bloviating on TV about other people's behavior.

No wonder you are such a strong supporter of the LIAR-IN-CHIEF - you're just like him!

(58,785 posts)honest insight into what they're really thinking. Newt has been hanging around rump for some time now, and we know he has a long record of choosing to pursue dishonorable sources of revenue over honorable. Rump circles have to be very enabling for sociopaths. Wonder if he has anything to worry about personally?
