3 questions:
1. Should I take this seriously?
2. Is the public buying this, as Trump did take a little jump at Gallup in his approval post Comey?
3. ABC said on Thursday Comey went nuclear on Trump. So why is Trump's team so gleeful?

(4,627 posts)Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is in the drivers seat. Special Counsel Mueller reports to him. Rosenstein can fire him at any time. Mueller cannot subpoena anyone, release major info, etc. without Rosenstein's prior permission. And Rosenstein can sit on the Special Counsel's final report, keeping it from public view.
Given that Rosenstein wrote the Comey memo justifying Comey's dismissal (after the decision to fire Comey was made), and given his complete filibustering stonewalling before the Senate committee, I do not have high hopes that Rosenstein will do what's right for the country.
Basically, our former democratic republic has been for the most part captured by Putin cronies. Trump's infrastructure proposal is similar to what happened after the Soviet Union collapsed, i.e. sell off state assets at bargain basement prices to crony oligarchs, who then extract high "rents" from the rest of us. I'm surprised that the media hasn't made that connection (actually not surprised, given who the major media work for).
These are sad times, the collapse of our republic.
BainsBane
(53,072 posts)and he has already been granted authorization by Rosenstein. Rosenstein does not grant authority for specific subpoenas. Mueller only has to go back to Rosenstein if he wants to widen the investigation, and if Rosenstein denies a request, it is referred to congress.
Mueller has already brought two separate grand juries under his control.

(2,654 posts)I didn't realize how dirty(complete loyalty oath to the Don) Rosenstein is until you pointed it out, our only hope is that Mueller will be a patriot and take it directly to the American people

(10,952 posts)she should hand him a document where it clearly states that Mueller will not be fired and ask him point blank to sign it. Since Rosenstein is already a witness to the shenanigans to what is going on then his impartiality is already seriously in question. If he is so quick to refuse to sign the document he should be asked why is he so quick to flush his own reputation down the drain.

(8,771 posts)The MSNBC host outlines why shes pretty darn sure the special counsel is looking into a potential obstruction of justice.
Fired FBI director James Comey testified that President Donald Trump wasnt under investigation, but thats likely no longer the case, according to Rachel Maddow.
Trump is very likely now the target of an obstruction of justice probe, she explained on MSNBCs The Rachel Maddow Show Friday. The host said she concluded this after Comey essentially said so under oath twice.

(7,908 posts)fascists control the bodies who would be responsible for impeachment. But anyone with two brain cells understands that Trump obstructed justice when he asked Comey to drop the Flynn investigation. That is an exemplar of a "high crime and misdemeanor" mentioned in the Constitution.

(583 posts)The meaning of what i said, pay attention now....
is that Drumpf will not be charged or convicted on that statement. In fact, it is so easy to argue what the word "hope" means, that it would be pointless to bring it up in hearings in front of a Judge.
Do you understand now King? Please don't respond, this conversation would only go downhill from here, as you accuse me of the next thing.

(17,276 posts)Like a reality show: if he gets the best ratings, best poll numbers, etc, then he has won. He has the power and can then defeat all adversaries! So he plays the victor in the media.
But there is a little matter of the law and the Constitution. Those things don't tend to be sways by approval ratings!
