Oh My: Jeff Sessions sending a deputy in his place to appropriations hearing Tuesday

Last edited Sat Jun 10, 2017, 09:29 PM - Edit history (1)

Attorney General Jeff Sessions was scheduled to testify publicly next Tuesday before the House and Senate appropriations committees. On Saturday, he abruptly canceled.

In letters to the chairmen of the committees, Sessions writes that he will send his deputy, Rod Rosenstein, to the hearing instead. In explaining the cancellation, Sessions writes that he believed that members of the committees were planning on asking him about “issues related to the investigation into Russian interference with the 2016 election.”

Sessions’ role in the ongoing probe into Trump campaign’s alleged communications with Russia has come under increased scrutiny since the testimony of former FBI Director James Comey this week.

If he were asked that question under oath, he'd be forced to either commit perjury or tell the truth.

WTF. Tell us you can't be at two places at once.

He refuses a Tuesday hearing but accepts June 13th, when, in fact, they're the same day.

of hearings at the last minute.

How right she is. She called it.

He, like Trump, is a sniveling & cowardly chicken shit.

I don't think that highly of DAG Rosenstein either. I noticed in the hearing on Wednesday he likes to ramble on and on while saying nothing useful. I read that Comey's description of Rosenstein is he's a survivor. Doing or saying what needs to be said or done to get by.

My bet is Trump's got him pegged as such to be a useful tool.

Trump Pummeled With Bad News As Top Senator Calls For Obstruction of Justice Investigation

While Trump tries his best to lie his way out of an investigation, Sen. Feinstein showed that she is not backing down in a new letter requesting for an investigation into any obstruction of justice.

Snip

Feinstein also laid out an order of operations to aid in the investigation. She requested that each issue being investigated must be “developed by our legal staff, presented to us, and be subject to full committee hearings.” Feinstein then silenced anyone who opposed her by describing why it is the Judiciary Committee’s issue. She writes in her letter that the “termination of the FBI Director and any efforts to interfere with the independence of ongoing investigations — fall squarely in the jurisdiction of the Judiciary Committee” and therefore deserve an investigation by the Committee.
