She did some actions and has some history that needs to be discussed.

(811 posts)Virulent right-wingers don't reflect this party's values.

(8,760 posts)who opposes regime change in the middle east......
Is called a virulent right-winger on a "Democratic" site.
Expecting Rain
(811 posts)And Steve Bannon's favorite "Democrat?"
Why'd she run to Trump Tower post-election to kiss Trump's ring?
Backing Putin's dictator in Syria, or the Hindu-fascists in India, doesn't make her a liberal.
She changed her public tune on gay marriage as a political tactic after backing the right-wing extremism of her father, anti-gay leader Mike Gabbard for decades, which is a position consistent with the Hare Krishna splinter cult (Science of Identity) that her family raised her in.
virtualobserver
(8,760 posts)She has been critical of every move that Trump has made including Trump's pointless missile strike on Syria.
Visiting the white house isn't kissing the ring.
She doesn't "Back" Assad....She just fears ISIS more.....Since you seem to fear Assad more, shall I assume that you back ISIS?
She is Hindu. The Hinduism that she practices is Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga.
Tulsi grew up. She went to war. She put her life on the line. She came back, changed her views and hasn't looked back.
Tulsi is 35, for Christ's sake.... "backing the right-wing extremism of her father, anti-gay leader Mike Gabbard for decades"?
....you mean since she was in the womb....
Blaming people for the religion that they were raised is unfair....Do you blame Hillary for her bible studies that she attended with "The Family" and for her time at the Senate prayer breakfast with James Inhofe,Tom Coburn, and George Allen by her own choice?

(7,178 posts)Not trying to manipulate Dems when it comes to this.
The thing is that there are questions about all this.
Good to ask and see.

9. He sees it as a way to divide Democrats. Plain and Simple. And it works, doesn't it?
Just like he planned.

(8,760 posts)Every politician has flaws, and Democrats are going to disagree on policy.
I think that it is reasonable to discuss those differences.
Labeling a Democrat as a right winger, or backer of Assad is not discussing the underlying difference in policy.
I'm tired of the name calling.

(108,996 posts)she just changed her mind about whether it should be legal.
That's hardly a ringing endorsement.
virtualobserver
(8,760 posts)For the same reason, many Catholics feel that way personally about abortion, but believe that it should be legal.
What would worry me is the politician who never believed that it was wrong, but took a public position against it out of political convenience.
pnwmom
(108,996 posts)Abortion is the result of a conscious decision. A woman can choose to have the procedure or not.
Someone's sexual orientation is not an action and it's NOT a choice. You are what you are -- gay, straight, or in between.
virtualobserver
(8,760 posts)what you are really objecting to are her thoughts or beliefs.
Personally, I believe that the religions of man are just a pile of made up stuff, including their thoughts on sexual orientation.
That being said, I don't care what anyone believes as long as they don't impose their beliefs on me.

(108,996 posts)And so are LGBT organizations in Hawaii.
http://mauitime.com/news/politics/heres-why-the-hawaii-lgbt-caucus-doesnt-support-rep-tulsi-gabbards-reelection-campaign/
So after all this time, Gabbard still personally opposes same-sex marriage, but wont say or do anything politically about it? This puts her campaign statement on same-sex marriage that we cited above in an entirely different light.
Golojuch said the LGBT Caucus still planned to interview Gabbard in person, but Gabbards staff cancelled that on July 17.
It was just brought to our attention that your chairman and vice chairman have been campaigning for Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbards opponent (please see examples below), Erika Tsuji, Gabbards campaign press aide, said in an email to Golojuch (who forwarded it and others to MauiTime). Therefore, there is obviously no need for any who are we going to endorse? interviews. Tulsi has already submitted answers to your written questionnaire.

For Golojuch, though, the statement is too little, too late.
Co-sponsoring is not leadership, he told me after reading the statement. She tells one organization one thing, and another something else. When we needed her, she wasnt there. We still dont know what her true position is on LGBT rights.
