These Drawings By Children Are Allowing Them To Express How They Feel About Trump

Source: BuzzFeed News

A workshop called Illustrated Stories of Immigration was set at Mighty Writers in Philadelphia for children of Mexican immigrants to come and share their family's story. The workshop was created by Nora Litz, a Mexican-American artist, to help her students talk about immigration and their feelings.

It was mainly aimed at children with parents that came into the U.S. illegaly since after talking to them she realized how scared they were. "I felt I had to do something" said Litz to NPR.

During the seven week long workshop children from ages 7 to 15 illustrated different aspects from an immigrant's life. The drawings included things like the wall that President Trump mentions constantly to ICE coming to take away family members.

2. La Migra/ICE is the stuff of nightmares for almost all border kids.

I'm a citizen. My closest immigrant ancestor arrived in the 1740s, if my sibling's genealogy is correct.

But most of my friends growing up were somewhere between 1st and 3rd generation (though technically, almost all of them were on ancestral land with longer histories than mine, because Nortenos and US citizenship have a messy history.) I absorbed their fear of seeing their families torn apart because it happened. When La Migra was in the neighborhood, my friends came to my house to hide.

I have no love for La Migra; they're too often sadistic. Even now, seeing that specific shade of green makes me nauseated.

4. Why don't you think the artworks are by children?

If you are talking about the writing in some of the pics... it is pretty common for adults/teachers to write out the children's words if they are not able to in order to help them express their thoughts/feelings.

5. Too polished IMO. The speech ballons look computer generated. Looks like the same artist did them.

7. It is obvious that the speech balloons are pre-printed.

Like I said, some of children probably dictated the words, and the adults wrote them out. Not unusual.

I like the clay art that makes him look like old Saturday Night Live shows with Mr. Bill.
