2 Scoops would have a nervous breakdown and go into hiding in his bunker. Sounds like a great idea!

regarding something that happened before he was President.

Nixon never testified during Watergate. Reagan didn't testify about Iran-Contra as a sitting president. Bush the second didn't testify under oath about 9/11.

There is no mechanism to require Trump to testify while he holds the office.

8. Correct. Trump would have to have broken the law before his inauguration.

wanted to have Trump testify regarding his meetings with Comey.

But, as others have pointed out, if criminal charges were brought against him regarding criminal activity committed prior to assuming the presidency, he would have the protection of the 5th Amendment against self incrimination. He couldn't be compelled to testify.

It is, however, protection against self incrimination. If the testimony would not tend to incriminate him, it could be compelled, but it's difficult to see how the issues might be separated absent immunity. And no prosecutor would immunize the biggest fish of all to get to an underling.

prosecutor (if Grand Jury) or Democratic senators (if in committee), will put in other questions to get him to a clear point of purgery. Something that can't be conflated with "he said, he said".
