Comey said, "I guess I don't know for sure. I believe -- I think the president, at his word, that
I was fired because of the Russia investigation."

I was watching it live and I heard him say "I take the president at his word." (plus I just looked it up).

The phrasing of which, to be quite honest with you, merits its own discussion all by itself.

Feinstein continued, "Do you believe the Russia investigation played a role?"

Comey replied, "In why I was fired?

"Yes."

Comey confirmed, "Yes. I've seen the president say so."
