1). "Trump didn't know it was wrong to talk to Comey 1-on-1" talking point was raised in the discussion
2). CANDIDATE Trump "complained bitterly" when Bill Clinton got on Loretta Lynch's plane "during an ongoing investigation" (even though he had NO EVIDENCE that a WORD of that was discussed), SO...
3). CANDIDATE Trump knew attempting to influence an ongoing investigation is WRONG, SO...
4). PRESIDENT TRUMP KNOWS, AND KNEW, that nine 1-on-1 conversations with Comey about an ongoing investigation was WRONG, also known as "obstruction of justice."

(15,382 posts)You know it is RIGHT if your god (or gut in the case of rump) tells you so.
So many RIGHTeous aholes in the repuglican party. Do the gravitate to that dark hole, or are they sucked in? What an embarrassment to our homo predecessors. Guess survival of the fittest doesn't work since they don't believe in evolution.

(5,272 posts)No way he didn't know it was inappropriate to try to influence the Flynn investigation.
Also Trump persisted for months trying to sway Comey even after Comey had told him at the first meeting that there was supposed to be distance and independence.

(12,642 posts)she was a DOJ lawyer on the staff of special prosecutor Leon Jaworski during the Watergate scandal. In the proceedings before Judge John Sirica, she was responsible for cross-examining President of the United States Richard Nixon's secretary Rose Mary Woods about the 18-1/2 minute gap on the Watergate tapes. She showed that Wood's proffered explanation for how she "accidentally" erased that section of tape was impossible, garnering attention and acclaim.
In 1977, she was appointed General Counsel of the Army, by President Jimmy Carter, the first woman to hold that position. In that role she promulgated a rule forcing all Army hiring authorities to justify in writing the hiring of a male attorney, when a qualified female attorney had also applied for the position, thus opening up the ranks of Army lawyers to sizable numbers of females (including me, which is why I know this story) for the first time

(18,837 posts)Apparently I misread the crawl during the segment...it was enough of a task to capture and transcribe the conversation with clarity. So all is right with the world again.

(1,129 posts)established the communications protocol for all WH communications with members of DoJ.....
So every time *45 chose to interact directly with Comey, he chose to violate the official procedures established (in writing & dated on official WH letterhead) by his own counsel (McGahn).
What a pompous ass.

(18,837 posts)I had CNN on earlier and it came up in a number of conversations.
A few people talking about "He's a successful CEO, that's just how he does things, he had no way of knowing."
No, he is not "innocent." He knew exactly what he was doing, and has gotten away with every transgression of ethics and decency in the past, so what's just one more goof, ya know? Just keep lying and eventually you'll wear out your opponents.
I'm really not looking forward to the Comey show tomorrow. The spin is going to be brutal.

(27,843 posts)How can anyone defend him on the basis of being unqualified for the job, or unaware of what it entails? And how can anyone who knows someone is unqualified vote for that person?
This isn't running for president of a high school class. This is one of the most important jobs in the world, and knowingly voting for an unqualified person is just wicked.

(16,994 posts)of Bill Clinton and Loretta lynch's discussion, which is something I've always noticed doesn't get brought up. Bill C is very chummy and verbose. They could have been talking about anything, grandkids, anything. I was glad to see her bring up the obvious fact there was no evidence rather than listening to the uninformed assumptions.
Thanks for this thread. She really set it up right there with all your points. Brilliant.

(2,574 posts)Ignorance is already not a defense, but Wine definitely made it clear that Trump has publicly denounced a candidate's husband for talking to an FBI Director during an investigation...Trump knew it was wrong all nine times he did it.

(23,166 posts)First, he mislead Comey on the nature of the dinner, why because he knew Comey would not want to be alone with him due to the investigation. He knew he was doing wrong and took steps to hide it.
2 - When he brought Comey in for a general meeting, he dismissed everyone but Comey. When Sessions tried to stay, Drumpf explicitly told him to leave. Again, he didn't want Sessions to hear what he was going to say because he knew he was doing something illegal.

(11,087 posts)If the Clintons cured cancer, he'd complain they did it to forward their evil agenda. If Trump causes cancer, Sean Spicer and Kelly Anne would try to spin it in a positive way. Meanwhile, Trump would say, "How can it be wrong? I'm Donald Trump. I'm President. Can you believe it? I'm President!"
